These fun pinwheels are super cute to use in flower pots or just for fun whimsical decor!
Pinwheels are a classic sign of Summer, but also add a bright pop of color any time of the year. Follow the step by step directions below to create a colorful batch of pinwheels in just about 30 minutes. A fun and easy activity when the kiddos complain that they are bored!

Supplies Needed
Craft Felt Sheets in assorted colors (use two coordinating colors of felt for each pinwheel)
Wooden Dowels
Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
Scissors
Pinking Shears and/or Scallop Shears
Buttons – Assorted
Ruler
Wire Cutters
Permanent Fine Point Marker
Instructions
Measure a 5-inch by 5-inch square from two coordinating colors of Craft Felt for each pinwheel. Cut the first color with straight scissors and then cut the second color with pinking shears or scallop shears. Lightly mark an “X” on each square by drawing diagonal lines from corner to corner with ruler and fine point marker. Cut diagonal lines on the first color of felt with straight scissors, stopping 1-inch from center. Cut diagonal lines on the second color of felt with pinking shears or scallop shears, stopping 1-inch from center.
Layer the first color of felt square on top of the second color of felt square. Using a hot glue gun, place a dollop of glue in the center of the square. Bend the top left corner of the pinwheel square to the center and hold in place until glue sets. Repeat to complete the pinwheel. Glue every other corner of the triangles to create the shape. Set aside for glue to cool completely.
On the front side, affix color coordinating buttons or mix it up with different colored buttons using hot glue. If your buttons have a loop (or shank) on the back remove with wire cutters. Set aside until glue has cooled.
Flip over and attach wooden dowel to the back of the pinwheel with a line of hot glue 1-inch long. Allow glue to cool completely. Display as you wish!
