A Beautiful Story About a Small, But Important Musical Note
Reading books with my children is one of my very favorite things to do. Just before bedtime, my kids grab a couple of books and we read them together. Occasionally, they love for me to read the same book more than once, depending on the length of the story. We enjoy learning about different subjects together like nature, space, science, and music among others. I think it’s great for young children to explore different subjects because they may just find a passion along the way. The more I read to my children, the more they understand the true meaning of the story.
The Musical Adventures of Grace: Winter represents one of four seasonal stories. It’s a wonderful story about the musical note named, Grace. You see, Grace was considered a small and insignificant note. She felt small on the page full of much bigger musical notes, and she felt unimportant. This story starts in a little town called Piperstown. They are about to put on a holiday concert with much anticipation because the music was composed by one of the Piperstown teachers. The orchestra was going to be conducted by a famous conductor, Maestro Vik. The Piperstown orchestra sat, waiting to play their music and reading their pages of notes. There on the pages sat Grace, feeling small and insignificant, but she was far from that. She had only one question: Where do notes go after they are played in the music?

About Grace
Grace is the main character from the four part series “The Musical Adventures of Grace,” and was inspired by his son, a cellist, about grace notes – “minor notes that are sometimes used by the orchestra to give the music more ‘color.” The story follows a grace note that is transformed into a little girl who, then, goes on to make new musical friends. Throughout Grace’s adventures, she, and her crew, learn about the magical things that happen when you create, play instruments, sing, and listen to all kinds of music.
My Thoughts:
My children love reading the story about how Grace, although being a small note, made a huge impact. I love that the story shows that every note is important in different ways. Children need to understand that everyone, like Grace, is special and unique. The first time I read the book, each page brought more anticipation for the next and I couldn’t wait to see if Grace would be heard. In my opinion, the author Kenneth E. Korber did an amazing job at keeping the attention of ages young and old alike. The pages are colorful and there aren’t too many words on each page, making following along easier. Overall, this book is one of our family’s favorite story’s to read!
You have got to get your hands on a copy of The Musical Adventures of Grace: Winter so you can find out the beautiful answer to Grace’s question: ” Where do notes go when they are played?”. I was in awe at the beautiful ending to this story. Kenneth E. Korber wants to improve children’s lives through a multimedia platform and help parents be better parents.
