As an adult, I understand the importance of good health and that exercise should play a large role in reaching my desired results. But is it something that I can honestly say that I enjoy or love? Sadly it isn’t. However, since starting the MY FIRST WORKOUT® program with our little ones, I have to admit that I am seeing that it can be enjoyable too. This summer, with the help of MY FIRST WORKOUT®, I hope to teach my children to enjoy exercising.
About MY FIRST WORKOUT®:
The MY FIRST WORKOUT® purpose is to help parents connect with their children and teach them lifelong exercise habits at an early age; specifically for children between the ages of 5-10. With an emphasis on ease-of-use and a focus on fun, MY FIRST WORKOUT® brings you a Certified Personal Trainer and Physician approved workout program that will benefit the whole family!
MY FIRST WORKOUT® Kit
This kit is a progressive exercise program designed for children from five to ten years of age. There are two different sets available depending on the age bracket and gender of the child.

All of the exercise movements are demonstrated by children both on the poster and in the video. The basic kit includes the first of 12 videos. Additional videos may be purchased on the website as your child is ready to move on their strength and challenge training.
My Thoughts:
My little ones are used to hearing me say that I am going to the gym to work out and seeing me ride our stationery bike daily. They are also too young to really understand how important exercising is to keep your body healthy. For them, exercising is just another word for playing and having fun. Man, I wish I could look at exercising the same way!
In this workout set, the equipment provided is well made and sized specifically for smaller bodies. The colors are bright and cheerful, just begging to be picked up and used. My little ones are both visual children so this was the first thing that caught their attention.
We are currently sharing a set of the MY FIRST WORKOUT® Kit for children five to seven years of age. And while Miss Allie isn’t five yet, she is able to enjoy the workout too. Her brother Colton however, takes our sessions a lot more serious. He says that he enjoys these exercises more than the ones they do in school during PE class. For a young man that never stops moving, that is a compliment to the product and instructors.
Program is Self Paced
Because this is a step by step program, children are able to learn at their own pace. And the videos reinforce the correct movements for proper execution. At the beginning of each video, the list of needed equipment is shown. Program One, for example, needs the exercise mat, the sand ball, and one set of the dumbbells.
As the video begins, the lights and music grab your attention as the instructor explains the program and how it works. Then, the fun begins! As the video progresses, safety rules are covered as well as ways to work around physical challenges or ways to modify the exercises as needed. Stressing safety and the need to pay attention to your body as you build strength and increase mobility. According to the instructor, each video should be used for about four weeks (depending on the child).
The MY FIRST WORKOUT® kit is a great way to spend time with your little ones while instilling the love of good health through exercising. This kit would make a wonderful gift and a way to teach your children to enjoy exercising. Who knows, you may learn to appreciate it more as well. I will admit that working out with the little ones has awoken muscles that apparently I have not used during my daily routine.
