Life has not been the same since we adopted our sweet little pup! Cookie is a spunky, fearless, snuggly and energetic super mutt! It wasn’t hard to fall in love with her sweet face and then her sweet and sassy personality. Adopting a dog, whether it’s a Labrador or a Yorkie or a mixed breed, will be the most rewarding thing you do! Maybe you’re looking for a Lab in New York City or a Corgi in Kansas. There are so many options when adopting pets! Read on to find out WHY you should adopt or rehome a pet.
Keeps Dogs out of Shelters!
Rescuing pets saves lives! One of the best reasons for adopting a shelter dog is that not only are you saving the life of the pet you give a forever home to, but you’re also allowing the shelter to have the money and space to save another pet’s life. The shelters are so crowded, strays wouldn’t have a place to go. So, you’re really saving two lives!
When you rehome a pet, he or she doesn’t ever have to end up in an animal shelter. When a pet is rehomed, it stays with its owners or guardians until a new home can be found. That owner can tell you all about the pet, the good, bad and funny!
We get Unconditional Love!
Not only are you rescuing/adopting a dog that needs a home, but they are rescuing you as well. You won’t realize how much you needed that extra unconditional love in your life until you feel it.
Our dogs shower us with unconditional love from the minute we walk through the door. They don’t care if you have been gone for 20 minutes or 10 hours! They are always there to nudge our hearts when we are sad. They are always there to nudge our hands when we need support.
I can tell you for certain, pups are intuitive. They know when you need extra loving and snuggles. It doesn’t matter if you’re sad and sleepy in your bathrobe or giddy and gracious in your Sunday best, your pup knows exactly what you need. Just a nuzzle from that cold nose can make us realize that life isn’t so bad, and that tomorrow is a new day!
Happiness starts with an Adventure!
Our little Cookie has the pleasure of learning things not only from us, but from her big furry brother, Bean, a 2 year-old border collie. It has been an adventure watching Bean with his new little sister. He is playful, fun and high energy like she is. He also will let her know when she’s biting too hard with her sharp puppy teeth. When she had her shots at the vet, he spent hours lying next to her while she slept and licked her face when she woke up. The adventures of Cookie and Bean will continue for years to come!
Everyone talks about rescuing pets, but sometimes they just might be rescuing YOU! So many pets are used for therapy, service and support. You never know what could happen when you adopt a pet! Life is easier and happier with your BFF (Best Furry Friend) to help you get through every day. You can look forward to amazing adventures with your new furry friend.
