There are some rooms in the house that you might clean regularly. For instance, you probably clean the kitchen or bathroom daily or weekly. There are, however, other areas that just don’t get the attention they need as often as they should. Many rooms need daily maintenance, but some places might only get a thorough cleaning a couple of times a year, or even less often. Add these three areas to your cleaning list to make them more manageable and pleasant.
Your Car
A lot of people only clean the insides of their cars a few times a year. This, however, is a recipe for a perpetually messy vehicle. If you have kids, then it’s even more likely that you have bits of food strewn on the backseat. If your car has a tendency to get messy, clean it out at least once a week. Even if you simply put away the children’s books and use the vacuum at the gas station a couple of times per month, you’ll enjoy a much cleaner car. Along with that, rent a carpet cleaner and detail it yourself once per year to clean away dirt and food stains.
Your Garage
The garage is an area that a lot of people avoid cleaning. Many people use it as a dumping ground for all of the items that they don’t want to throw away but don’t currently have a use for. Don’t let your old stuff take over your parking space. Instead, clean your garage at least once or twice per year. Just like a storage unit, you’ll be happier when you can find what you’re looking for.
Your Storage Unit
Your storage unit is the place that you put all of the items that you don’t want cluttering your home, but you should still keep it tidy. When you want to find something quickly, it’s so much easier when you at least have a clear path. Also, make sure that any containers are stacked neatly so that they don’t fall over on you. And if you want to store perishables, use plastic containers to store food in your unit, as they are more durable than cardboard and harder for pests to get through. Even pet food is a tasty temptation for rats and mice, and rodents can find ways into almost any outdoor unit, so pest control should be at the top of your priority list.
There are areas that people avoid cleaning for a few reasons. When the area is out of sight, it’s also out of mind. Then, there are many places that people often avoid because it’s such a big job. But once you clean them thoroughly the first time, the spaces will be easier to maintain.
