Berrylicious Smoothie Bowl Recipe: Easy, Quick and Satisfying!

April 14, 2019 by Diane

Smoothie bowls are all the rage right now and it’s no wonder! If you are already a smoothie lover, you are sure to love them. And, while I love smoothies, my one complaint is a little while later you are hungry all over again. That is one of the reasons I love smoothie bowls like this Berrylicious Smoothie Bowl! You can add toppings of your choice such as fruit, seeds, nuts, etc. and then eat it with a spoon. The simple act of chewing makes it “stick to your ribs” and keeps you satisfied longer.

In addition to being delicious and satisfying, this Berrylicious Smoothie Bowl is loaded with nutrition. My favorite nutritious ingredients are the chia seeds and oatmeal. Chia seeds and oatmeal are known for their many health benefits.

Prep Time: 10 mins.
Yield: 1 large or 2 small bowls

Ingredients:

2 Tbl. Rolled or Quick Oats
2 Tbl. Chia Seeds
1/4 cup milk (regular, Almond, Coconut, or Soy)
3/4 cup Strawberries, frozen
3/4 cup Blueberries, frozen
1 Banana (works best frozen)
1 cup Greek Yogurt (plain non-fat or vanilla)
1-2 tsp. honey (optional)

Sliced Almonds
*Any fresh fruit, berries, nuts, granola, seeds, shredded coconut, etc. – use your favorites!

Directions:

Berrylicious Smoothie Bowl process

Add Chia seeds and rolled oats to the milk and allow to sit for at least 15 mins or prepare the night before and place in the fridge.

Berrylicious Smoothie Bowl process

Place the frozen strawberries, blueberries, and banana in the blender and blend until they are pieces.

Add in the Chia seed and oatmeal mixture and pulse and blend.

Add yogurt (and honey, if using) to the blender and blend on low until thick and creamy. Should be like soft serve ice cream. You can add a dash more milk or yogurt if too thick or a few more oats if it needs to be thickened.

Enjoy!

**NOTE: You can throw a bit of baby spinach right in with the smoothie mixture and no one will be the wiser as you never know it is there 🙂 It’s a great way to add a few vegetables in.
