Before Spring is officially here, we are in store for some more cold days. On the days it is not horribly cold, you can still warn your hands with some one-of-a-kind fingerless mittens from Jack & Mary Designs. Then on the days where it is arctic, sport some beautiful full mittens. When you wear these pretty accessories, you will look awesome and be warm. These mittens and other items from Jack & Mary Designs are great for you and the environment because they are created from recycled sweaters.
About Jack & Mary Designs
Here you will find colorful, handmade, quality mittens, scarves, hats, headbands, and even skirts. They specialize in taking donated sweaters and bringing them back to life as environmentally friendly accessories. The Founder and Designer, Marilyn Roberts can look at a sweater and now right away what product she should make from it. They are at the forefront of the green movement, and their upcycled products are sold at over 275 retailers all over the nation and online. Plus they make all of their products in America. Since they are handmade, they give many local women in Maine jobs. Most noteworthy is that their sustainable fashion is better for the environment, because it does not add water pollution, toxic chemical use, or textile waste.
Long Fingerless Mittens
I got a cream colored pair of Long Fingerless Mittens with a pink accent and a beutiful mother-of-pearl button. Since Jack & Mary hand make each product, there are differences in each pair. I like that fact because it means my mittens are unique and special. These mittens are so light and comfortable, and easily fit under the wrists of my clothes when I wear them. Due to their material they are easy to wear in many situations. For example I was out to eat with them on, and I had to use the facility. Normally gloves have to come off and and go in a pocket, where they can get lost. These mittens can just slide up to your wrist and stay there while you wash your hands and do other activities. Then they are right there ready to slide back down over your thumb to keep you hand warm and fashionable.
Short Fingerless Mittens
These Short Fingerless Mittens are just like the long ones, but you guessed it-shorter. They are lightweight and breathable, which makes them perfect for dressing up or down. They keep your hands and wrists warm and cozy, but leave your fingers out. Since your fingers are free you can drive, text, or write easily. I personally just do not like my fingers covered unless I am playing in the snow. Therefore I often have chilly hands, but these mittens will help all that. I think they are really pretty on, and make a statement.
Women’s Mittens
The full Mittens from Jack & Mary Designs are very pretty, and oh so soft on the inside. The fleece lining inside is the cause of the softness, and the outside is recycled sweaters. My mittens are a pretty purple ombre, with a dark purple cuff, and a pretty button. These will be perfect for very cold days and nights. I noticed on all three of these products they are sown perfectly, and the button details and stitching are great. They are cozy and nice to wear, and I get lots of compliments on my Fingerless Mittens. Best of all when I wear them, I know I am helping the planet!
