My family loves to travel, almost year round! And there are enough of us when you consider we have multiple generations that will plan trips, whether just a short few days for a road trip, or several weeks spent traveling the world! Some of us could probably rough it with two changes of clothes and maybe something nice to wear, while others in this group seem to need several suitcases just for a weekend away!
But what happens when we’re traveling and need to do laundry? Either something was spilled and needs to be washed quickly, or we’re on the road for several days and don’t want to have to stop and spend a bunch of time and money at a laundromat! Here’s where the Scrubba Wash Bag comes in handy for that laundry on the go!

Sustainable living is about respecting the limits of the earth’s capacity to provide. We look for solutions that lead to a simpler, more self-sufficient way of living. At Eartheasy, we believe we can enrich our lives and ensure a healthy future while also reducing our impact on the environment.
Scrubba Wash Bag
Featured on Shark Tank Australia and is named the lightest ‘washing machine’ in the world. It’s a packing essential for all travellers and campers who want to: pack lighter and cleaner, wash clothes anywhere, save money, and enjoy travel.
My Thoughts
If you follow my family’s adventures or enjoy reading the different products we use and post reviews for, then you probably remember a similar item I wrote about in the past. It is called the Allurette Personal Washing Bag and it’s kind of like the Scrubba Washing Bag here. But the Allurette is meant more for delicates and items you’d want to hand wash like bathing suits or silk ties.
For me and my travel companions, the Scrubba Washing Bag makes traveling while packing light a thing of the present. First off, it’s extremely light when it’s empty, and folds down into a compact triangle like shape so it’s super easy to pack and carry even with limited space. It’s also flexible enough to handle either a single piece or two of clothing, or multiple pieces, depending on your personal laundry need! It includes a built in washboard with a ton of little nodules to help scrub your clothes clean while they are inside the bag. And it uses a bunch less water than a traditional washing machine does, which is great for both when you’re traveling and to help the environment.
Using the Scrubba Washing Bag for laundry on the go is very easy.
You unfold the bag, add water, detergent, and clothes. Roll the top of the bag down several times and clip it shut. Open the valve and expel any excess air that may be inside. Then press and rub your clothes against the washboard inside of the bag, anywhere from 30 seconds for small loads and/or light laundry needs or up to 3 minutes for a traditional washing machine clean results. When you’re done, unclip and unroll the bag and dump the water.
Then rinse your clothes until the soap has been rinsed away; finally pat your clothes dry with a towel if you need them quickly or find a spot to hang or lay the pieces out to dry! You should let the bag air dry if you have the time before you packed it back up; but you can always wipe it down with a towel or cloth and fold it back up if you’re in a hurry.
Also Serves as a Dry Bag
Another great way to use the Scrubba Washing Bag is that it doubles as a “dry bag” on your travels and adventures. Like when we head to the beach or go white water rafting. I can pack up our super important items that we need to keep close (IDs, cell phones, cash, etc) but don’t want to get wet. You load them up like you would a load of clothes (minus the soap and water), roll the top of the bag down and clip both ends to keep the water out of the bag. And that’s it, your important items are kept safe and dry without having to buy or carry yet another piece of gear to take with you.
Finally, this isn’t just for doing laundry on the go, or because you’d like to be able to pack light. This would make a great idea for folks who might have limited access to laundry facilities, like college students living in the dorm or people who need to wash pieces by hand as easy as possible. It’s great to keep on your boat, stashed in the car, tuck into your camping gear, or even add to your emergency prep kit! You never know where or when you’ll need to wash something and only need to add a little water and soap to get it done.
Profits Used to Support Important Causes
To top it off, the makers of the Scrubba Washing Bag also use profits to invest in important causes, such as helping provide clean water to areas that need it or non-profit funds that help care for those less fortunate.
You can see that we definitely enjoy this product, both when we’re traveling or just need to do laundry on the go on the cheap and in a hurry! The Scrubba Washing Bag is a great piece of gear to take with you almost anywhere on land or sea, and even keep at home.
