About Lulla Doll by RoRo
We are three Icelandic mothers of 8 making up the Roro team. Eyrún is the founder and CEO, Birna is our designer, web developer and photographer and Sólveig is in charge of marketing and sales.
The company name Róró originates from the Icelandic word “ró” which means calmness and comfort. Róró is dedicated to helping babies and their caregivers feel better. It was founded in 2011 around a single idea: to make a product for babies that imitated closeness when their parents needed to be away. Indeed, the idea of the Lulla doll was born when our friend had her baby girl prematurely and had to leave her alone in the hospital every night for two weeks.
Many people have contributed and helped our little company Róró and the Lulla doll come to life including doctors, nurses, biomedical-sound and electrical engineers, musicians, designers, artists, marketing, business people and all our testers, family and friends.

My Thoughts:
Having seven children was not what I imagined when I was a young girl. Several children, yes, but I don’t think I ever thought I would have seven to raise. But I love each and every one of them and marveled at how different each baby was. Some were great sleepers and others were not. A few were quick to walk, and others we thought would crawl forever! But some things didn’t change from baby to baby, such as needing to get them into a sleeping routine and keeping them safe once they were moving around on their own.
Sleep is so important, no matter how old we may get. And when a baby is supposed to be sleeping up to 20 hours in a day and they are cranky when they go short on required sleep, no one in the house is happy! Now, I can say after seven kids that some things worked wonderfully for each baby and some had unique needs. But one thing that I always had success with was a soft doll or stuffed animal for the baby to sleep with. You need to make sure it has no little parts or strings, anything that could come loose. And I always “wore” the doll against my skin so it would smell like me when it was in the crib with the baby. And that’s exactly the thought behind the Lulla Doll by RoRo. This delightful doll is soft and simple and a joy to watch cuddled up against your baby. Plus it has a small recorder box inside the body that plays both breathing and heart beat sounds for up to 8 hours! This way the baby “hears” you next to them, even if you aren’t right next to them. The Lulla Doll by RoRo is also machine washable so she’s easy to keep clean. And I like that it’s not overtly male or female in design and color, so it could be easily used for a son or daughter. Even the company’s website suggest you wear or hold the doll close so it smells like you do which will comfort a fussy baby. I think this is a great idea for comfort and to help a baby get settled to sleep, especially if they are light sleepers and constantly have to put themselves back to sleep after waking.
When they start learning to crawl or even start taking their first steps, you suddenly see your home in a whole new light. Everything is a danger and seems to be in reach! Especially for these curious kids who want to see/smell/taste everything around them. But sometimes, you need to keep them contained to a particular area so they don’t get into anything harmful or keep them from being underfoot. Baby gates use to be clumsy, difficult to use, and just a pain to get around.
