My Thoughts
You might be wondering just how much stuff I have in my garage that I need extra storage? Well, when you have 7 children plus over a dozen grandchildren, you tend to accumulate stuff over the years. Not only do we store our “storage” stuff, but we also have some things from when the kid’s were growing up, holiday decorations, and even odds and ends as various kids move from one place to another, or when they go away to school.
Usually, we go through the garage about once a year and “push the walls back” (as my husband calls it) so I can pull my vehicle in the garage to park while not hitting the doors on anything nearby. But this year, we are repairing a leak in our basement and as a result, we are going to remodel the entire room. A lot of the items had to be moved to the garage for temporary storage, but there was no extra space for all the stuff. So enter Fleximounts; these are storage racks/shelves that mount from the ceiling and provide a way to use that extra space below the ceiling without being in the walking path.
The directions are very clear and provide you with step by step instructions to install and mount the unit where you need it. Note that although the instructions are clear, the unit must be properly mounted in order to be used safely. Make sure to locate and use the studs when hanging as the sheet rock alone is not strong enough to support the unit. Once properly mounted, the unit is really secure and will safely organize your stored items out of the way until needed.
There are a number of sizes and finishes to choose from, which are built to hold anything from moving boxes and plastic storage tubs to gardening equipment, large holiday decorations, and even have items mounted from hooks like a bicycle or garden hose. The unit we are using is 4’x8′ and is meant to hold up to 550 pounds! Plus you can adjust the height from 22 inches to 40 inches so it can be adjusted to fit your needs.
I found these were perfect to put up those storage items that I don’t need to get into very often, like holiday decorations or childhood memorabilia. They can be slide up on the wrack and they are safe from water damage, they are out of my way in the garage, and I can simply climb a ladder and have them handed down if I do need to access them. Now, you don’t have to use them just in your garage, they would be perfect in the basement or even in a storage room within your home or shop! With the different sizes, you can find something from Fleximounts that would work perfectly in whatever space you need to organize or use as storage.
So now I can pull right into my garage, my items are up out of the way for however long I need them to be, and I can adjust the height of the hanging wracks in the future in case I need to use them for something different! You can organize your garage with Fleximounts today; just head to Amazon and pick out what you need!
