Did someone tell you that a sleeping baby is a comfy one? Or how about never wake a sleeping baby? I heard both expressed recently at a baby shower and honestly had to laugh. Until you have been a new parent and walked the path of no sleep for weeks…you really don’t understand how true or precious it is for your little one to be comfy and secure enough to sleep.
Sleeping Baby offers simple solutions to the issue of keeping baby comfy so they can sleep.
Sleeping Baby
The motto for our Sleeping Baby brand is: “Inspiring Dreams One Night at A time,” and that, in a nutshell, is how it all started …with one little dream that has since become our family’s reality. When our daughter, Charlotte, was born, the feeling that welled up inside of me could only be compared to what God’s love for us must look like. My husband, Brett and I never even realized until we first looked into those baby blues of hers that we were even capable of that kind of love.
Like many homes in America and all over the world, we were a two income household. Before having Charlotte, I had every intention of going back to work simply because we weren’t in a position financially where I could stay home with our little girl. I’m sure many moms can relate to the inner turmoil that occurs when maternity leave is over and we are faced with having to leave our precious little ones in someone else’s care when our deepest desire is to stay with them. My sweet husband, who wanted to do everything in his power to enable me to stay home, entertained taking on a second job. The greatest prayer of my heart became finding a way to afford to stay at home but I couldn’t, in good conscience, do it at the expense of my husband not being home to see our little girl grow up. As a family of faith, we knew that nothing was impossible with God and with that knowledge, came a peace that we would be just fine as a family even if I did have to go back to work.
The greatest prayer of my heart became finding a way to afford to stay at home but I couldn’t in good conscience, do it at the expense of my husband not being able to see our little girl grow up.
It was then that our prayer was answered in a very strange way… we all stopped sleeping! Our daughter who had slept wonderfully while swaddled, all of a sudden started waking up multiple times acting like she was no longer comfortable in her swaddle. To top it off, she had started rolling and breaking free of her swaddle so swaddling was no longer safe. The problem was, Charlotte refused to even fall asleep without the swaddle. We tried every sleep sack on the market and any swaddle weaning trick we could find on the internet for nearly two weeks and nothing worked to get her to fall and stay asleep.
What absolutely blew me away was how common this swaddle transition issue seemed to be with little ones based on the endless blogs and comments I found on the subject. The ‘Moro’ or startle reflex that causes a baby to suddenly jolt awake, fidget or hit and scratch their face in their sleep prevents many babies from settling those little limbs and getting the restful sleep they need.
Some of our favorite items this season are:
Mermaid Snooziemat Sleeping Mat
Now your little one can bring Pearl the Mermaid with them to sleepovers or to Granma’s. It really is a neat solution for those nap times when you are not at home.
Tree Owls Flying Squirrel Pajamas
How cute is this one piece pajama and wearable blanket for little ones! Sizes run from twelve (12) months up to a five (5) toddler. The material is super soft and warm. No need to worry about your little one kicking off their blankets.
Hand Knitted Zippy TuTu Dress
This dress comes in sizes ranging from three (3) months through twenty-four (24) months. It will be your little one’s favorite dress! Super soft knitted top with a ruffled tutu.
My Thoughts:
Over the years I have learned that my little ones prefer (well some took it to the extreme of demand) their own blanket or snuggy when it came time to sleep. Our little Allie is one that will cry to go home to her bed when it is nap time. Now she has a snooziemat sleeping mat she brings when she is going to be away from home. Thankfully she loves her mat and will (as much as a three year old can) settle quickly for her afternoon nap.
She also loves as in LOVES her flying squirrel pajamas. She would wear these things all the time and will often want to get back into them at nap time. And that’s ok with me if it helps her sleep. But seriously, this are the cutest pajamas. They do look funny when you are folding them, but once your little one has them on….it is magical. Super soft and pretty, but they have bands at the wrists and ankles that can be folded open or pulled over hands and feet. Allie likes her feet covered but wants her hands free when she is sleeping so she can hold her baby doll.
Another awesome thing about the flying squirrel pajamas is that there is no need to be concerned if your little one kicks off their blankets at night. They will be toasty warm in their pajamas. You know your little one loves their pajamas when they ask to put them on!
Being comfy doesn’t stop at bed or nap time. And this knitted tutu dress takes the cake. The top is so soft and stretchy while the tutu bottom “swishes and poofs out” as Allie says.
From pajamas to clothing, Sleeping Baby offers solutions to help your little one be comfy so they can sleep. We also struggled with the transition from swaddling and have discovered what sleeping is again with their Zipadee-zip line too.
If you have a little one that isn’t sleeping through the night or wants that swaddled feeling in order to settle down, make sure to check out the products from Sleeping Baby. Then you can say that a sleeping baby is a comfy baby at the next baby shower as you gift one of these sleeping outfits.
