Now that school is back in session and the weather will start to turn bearable again, most of us will find ourselves away from home more often. That includes everyone in the family, including our teenagers, parents, and younger children at home. Between walking around the park, playing with friends outside, or even going out for the evening, chances are we will always be at risk for a physical attack. But we can’t just sit at home and hide from the world either; that’s why we are staying safe with Katana, a personal safety and security unit, with 3 built in layers of protection.

The founders of Katana—believe that violence and sexual assault are the biggest tragedies we face as humans. Like most people, we’ve been impacted by it, whether through personal experience or the experience of close friends. The ugly truth is, it happens all around us. My Thoughts:
It would be easy to get depressed and discouraged by the violence that gets reported on the news. It doesn’t matter if you live in a large or small city, or even out of the city limits, unfortunately, physical and sexual violence is all around us. And while nothing can protect you 100% of the time, you can certainly take steps to protect yourself and your friends and family from harm. For example, exercise in a group when you’re heading to the park or local walking track. Make sure someone knows where you’re going if you’re going out for a hike in the woods. Have the phone numbers for the other parents if your kids are going off together. And attach the Katana Arc to your smartphone.
The Katana includes a three layer defense system to help keep you and your loved ones safe.
- Includes two built in alarm types that can be triggered three different ways: pulling the tab on the Katana device, dropping your phone so it disconnects from the wristband, both of which will set off a very loud audible alarm, or hold down the button on the back of the device so it sends a silent panic alarm.
- Once the alarm has been activated, you are automatically put in touch with the Katana response center. These trained representatives can help locate you during an event, stay with you until you feel you are safe again, dispatch local emergency services, and activate your circle of contacts you’ve established.
- Use the free Katana app to help your phone be located through GPS as well as manage your alerts.
I think this is a great device for people of all ages. By using the wristband, the alarm is automatically set off if someone were to snatch your phone out of your hand or toss it to the ground in the middle of an assault. If you think someone’s following you or trouble is up ahead, hold down the silent alarm button so help will be dispatched directly to your location. Whether you need the loud screaming alarm to frighten off a potential threat or draw attention from witnesses, or the silent feature to alert the Katana resource center that you need help and to notify your “circle”, you are covered in any event.
And the circle you can set up will alert those you designate if you send an alarm, and it sends them a map of your location and will also tell them if you do not respond to the Katana response center so they are more aware of what’s going on and how to help.
