For most young adults, going away to college, or even just leaving home to attend school, can be rough when it comes to getting laundry done. Even if they did their own laundry at home, most dorms, small apartments, and rented basements don’t come with washing machine units! So how are they to get their laundry done without having to go home each time? Or what if home is too far away to make it convenient? The idea of a small and portable washing machine would be great, especially if it uses less water and requires no power. College laundry made easy? With a Lavario Portable Clothes Washer, you bet!

Going away to college, or even just moving out of your parent’s home for the first time, can be quite an adjustment. Doing laundry is definitely one of the big changes in a student’s life. Even if they did their own laundry at home, chances are, their new small living quarters probably don’t come with their own laundry equipment! And whether they have to share a single laundry room for an entire floor of the dorm or a whole apartment building, it’s not always easy to get their clothes washed.
I have a daughter that’s recently started college and currently resides in a hotel room with her husband while he’s going to school and working out of town. There are no laundry facilities on site and hauling clothes to the local laundry mat can get expensive quickly!
When my kids start leaving the nest, I try to help them get adjusted by teaching and suggesting a few ideas when it comes to college laundry made easy.
- Stain Treating: Most stains can come clean if you treat them as soon as possible. Whether you can rub it out with a little laundry soap and water, or you need to keep a small pre-treatment cleaner on hand, handle it as soon as you can. This is a great way to save on laundry since you don’t have to launder the item multiple times and you don’t have to replace as many clothes simply because they get stained.
- Keep Supplies Together: No matter what type of soap, fabric softener, or dryer sheets you might use, save yourself time by keeping them stored together! Maybe buy a small laundry basket to keep the supplies and clothes hangers all together so you can haul them to wherever you do laundry without worrying about forgetting something. Plus you can tell at a quick glance if you’re running low (or even out) of an item when you’re making a trip to the store.
- Portable Clothes Washer: Not everyone has access to laundry facilities when it comes to being away at school. Or maybe they aren’t convenient to use when you need to get to them; but you still have clothes to wash, so now what?
The portable clothes washer from Lavario is a great solution for the college student living in tight quarters, whether that be a dorm room, shared apartment, or even a rented bedroom in someone’s home. This unit can be used in a bathtub, shower, or even in the kitchen sink as long as the water can drained!
It holds 5 gallons of water, and you’ll need that amount for each load to wash, and then again to rinse, if you’re washing a full load of clothes or towels.
Then you simply lift the handle and dunk the basket into the water, using gravity and the motion of the water to wash your items.
When you’re finished washing or rinsing, you simply unscrew the cap at the bottom of the bucket and let the water drain out completely.
You can even put your wet, clean clothes under the basket and push down on the basket to squeeze the extra water out of your garments so they dry faster. Then you can hang them on a clothing rack in your closet, a laundry line, or collapsible drying rack.
The bottom of the portable clothes washer has rubber feet to help hold it in place while you’re using it, and it stores easily out of the way in between uses.
This unit is great not only for college students washing clothes, but it also helps the environment because you can use less water, less detergent, and no electricity is required. College laundry made easy with the Lavario Portable Clothes Washer? We think so!
