How to Transform Your Child’s Room on a Budget

July 23, 2018 by Pam Maynard

A child’s room is the space that they dream fantastic dreams, play with their toys and prepare for the day. Should it be a fantasy land? Of course! Should it matter if your budget is limited? Absolutely not. Consider these four ways you can transform your room on a budget.

How to Transform Your Child’s Room on a Budget

Paint the Walls

Find a dynamic color and paint the walls of your child’s bedroom. You can choose to paint all four walls in four different colors. If you purchase a sample can of paint for each wall, you’ll keep costs low. It’s a nice idea to add decals or paint a stencil on the walls as well.

Create Interesting Window Treatments

It’s easy to purchase inexpensive curtain rods. If they’re not a color you love, spray paint them. Find curtains online. You can also install delightful blinds from a place like Shutterflex to maintain a level of privacy when it’s time to change clothes or go to bed.

Add Creative Artwork

Artwork doesn’t have to expensive. You can easily purchase a few fun frames from a discount store. You can easily create graphic art within a Word document. Create a gallery wall filled with inspirational quotes or funny quotes from your child’s favorite movies. You can also find fun images on different stock photo sites. Purchase the photos and take them to the local print shop to blow them up and place them on the walls. You can even frame beautiful wrapping paper and no one would ever know.

Install a Statement Piece

A statement piece can easily transform a room. If you have a little girl who loves princesses and whimsical features, consider purchasing a canopy that goes over the bed. Many retailers sell circular versions. To make the most impact and cover the most space, purchase a rectangular-shaped canopy that covers the four posts of the bed.

If you have a little boy who loves space, create a galaxy that hangs from the ceiling. Add glow-in-the-dark stickers that come in the shapes of stars and planets. Find toy versions of the planets and hang them from the ceiling. These are custom ideas that can work really well.

It doesn’t have to cost a lot of money to transform a room. The key is to use your creativity to produce an amazing look. Don’t be afraid to look online to get inspiration. Take a look at various home decor blogs and pictures on social media. The more you expose yourself to new and innovative ideas, the more likely you’ll create a space your child loves.
