Give Dad Better Sleep for Father’s Day #SuperDadGifts18

June 15, 2018 by Sherryl Wilson

When it comes to buying gifts for Dads on Father’s Day, there are always a few go-to gifts that every Dad would receive with grace but not always need. Whether it’s a new shirt and tie, a new coffee mug, or homemade crafts from their little ones, these things are definitely a no-brainer in my house. However, what if you could get Dad something he would use every day? Or night, actually. How about you give Dad better sleep for Father’s Day this year!

My Tot Clock

My Tot Clock is an all-in-one sleep aid, alarm clock, nightlight, and timer for children ages 2+. It teaches little ones when to sleep (blue light) and when it’s okay to get out of bed (yellow light). It also plays bedtime stories, lullabies, fun wake music, and even white noise (like ocean sounds)! As an added bonus, My Tot Clock has a light blue light for nap time, a red light for timeout, and a green light for any positive timed activity. Perfect for those young enough to start learning a daily routine, but not old enough to be able to tell time.  Also great for their sleepy parents! Guaranteed better sleep or your money back!

This is a fun products that combines colors and time to teach your child about not just how to tell time, but what time specific to your schedule for waking up, bedtime, rest time, etc. Plus the kids can also listen to stories, songs, and even white noise on their own little clock! This is a great solution to help give a child some independence while also still having control over the options. And they have “treasures” that allow your child to have different stories and songs, depending on their preference or even the holiday.

My Thoughts

Teaching a child how to tell time isn’t always easy. If you have a child who’s all about the rules and you said we’d have a snack at 2, then they are self-motivated to learn how to tell time. However, if your child hasn’t learned their numbers yet, or how to associate a particular time with an action (like bedtime), then the My Tot Clock is a great product. Instead of saying bedtime is at 8, you could set the clock to show that 8 o’clock shows a blue light on the face of the clock when it’s bedtime. You can do the same for wake-up time, since the light turns to yellow instead.

Not only is this a sweet idea to help kids associate time with actions, along with independence, it has other features too like being able to tell a story, sing a song, or just play background noise to help your child rest or sleep! And how does this all help Dad on Father’s Day? Well, hopefully he no longer gets a poke in the ribs or little fingers prying his eyes open, just to tell the sweet little guy to go back to bed. And what Dad do you know doesn’t want or need more sleep?

For us, this was also a special bonding time between Father and children. He wants to encourage them how to tell both analog and digital time, and the My Tot Clock shows the time in both formats. Plus, once the little ones learn how to tell time, they want a watch like Daddy wears. So he got it set up for them according to our bedtime/nap schedules, showed them how to use it since it stays in their room, and issues gentle reminders when they ask him about the time instead of checking it for themselves.

There aren’t any overwhelming amount of buttons for a curious child to mess with, and they can’t get to the function buttons that change the settings. Don’t worry, as long as you have a backup battery installed, My Tot Clock won’t mess up if you lose power; and you can really customize the clock from the brightness level of the lights to the music playing at sleep or wake time. And there’s even a timeout feature where the light shows red and helps teach your little one how long he has to stay in his room or “spot” until the light turns back to yellow.

On the days that Dad works, he is now using The Tot Clock to help get the kids settled into bed while they listen to one or two of the programmed bedtime stories. They have titles like the story of Cinderella & The Little Mermaid, and Teddy’s Day in the Forest & The Magic Train; plus other tales like The Hare and the Tortoise & The Town and Country Mouse or The Brave Little Mouse & Me and My Puppy! These little “treasures” can be changed out, and each includes a story, lullabies, a fun wake-up song, and some background white noise. So the kids get to sleep faster and easier, which means Dad gets to sleep easier and longer. Give Dad better sleep for Father’s Day this year, he will be sure to use it and the My Tot Clock every day.
