Encourage Your Children to Create with Kwik Stix Paints #KwikStix

June 8, 2018 by Sherryl Wilson

When was the last time you got out the paint crafts and didn’t end up with a mess? I’ll admit that I normally shy away from painting crafts when the little ones are around to “help me”. Not anymore! Kwik Stix from The Pencil Group has created a way for little ones to paint and create works of art without a mess!

The Pencil Grip

The Pencil Grip was invented in 1992 by Dr. Lois Provda, a prominent educational therapist. Two decades later, the company has grown to offer hundreds of unique and innovative products for the home, school, and office. The Provda family is incredibly grateful to the millions of parents, teachers, and therapists who have put their trust in The Pencil Grip, Inc’s products.

Pencil Grips

These pencil grips teach little ones how to correctly hold their pencils using the three (3) step method. Starting with The Crossover Grip, which has little wings or stoppers to keep the fingers in the right place. Then transition with The Pinch Grip which is not as restrictive but provides a reminder of finger placement. Finally, the child is ready to use the standard Pencil Grip which provides comfort and helps in the control of the pencil when writing. It allows for more comfort with extended use.

Magic Stix

Kwik Stix, which are solid tempera paint sticks that dry in 90 seconds. They are a mess free way for children to paint without needing brushes or water, and you don’t need to worry about spilling paint on the table! The Kwik Stix are AP certified (non-toxic) and are gluten, egg and peanut free. They work on many surfaces besides paper, including wood, canvas, cardboard, posters, and aluminum. So all you have to do is “Uncap, Twist, and Paint” to create vibrant works of art without the mess of paint!

My Thoughts:

Crafting is on again around our house! Little Miss Allie is enjoying painting and I am enjoying that there isn’t a mess when she is done. These paint sticks are so easy to use and they work on just about any surface. Of course we still have to remind the little ones to keep their painting restricted to the paper or item they are working on.

I can remember using pencil grips when I was in school, in fact, I remember buying some when it was mid terms in college because my hand was tired and sore from all the writing. Holding a pencil or pen correctly seems almost like a lost skill set. I guess because the majority of things are done on some type of keyboard or electronic device. It’s a skill set that is still needed and these grips are pretty neat. I think they really help little ones hold and control their pencil while writing. I had to laugh at myself when I was holding a pencil with the grip on it and it wouldn’t fit right in my hand. I messed with it and messed with it…then one of my little ones told me that it was for a right handed person and I was left handed. Sure enough, they have a “L” or “R” on them!

Personally, I have been using the washable marker set to make posters and cut outs for the bulletin boards in our class rooms. It never fails that I end up with marker from my wrist to elbow while trying to color or draw the posters. Thankfully, these markers wash off easily. My hands and arms are no longer multi colored after a day of bulletin board work.

If you have little ones that love to create but you haven’t been a fan of the mess made with using paints; make sure you check out these Kwik Stix Paint Sticks.

Kwik Stix are available to buy at Walgreens in store, Michael’s in store and online, Target online, and on Amazon.
