Bring Back Family Time When You Disconnect to Connect #kroegerinc

April 25, 2018 by Sherryl Wilson

Family time, especially when spent enjoying being together and laughing with each other is something that takes effort in our busy lives. With spring break coming up soon, why not bring back family time at your house? Set up your game table and turn off your electronics while enjoying a couple of hours playing games together. Be all there for your family because building the bonds will carry the family farther than any distraction on an electronic device.

About Kroeger Inc.

One of the most important part of spring is spending time with friends and family. That means disconnecting from your phones and computers and reconnecting the old fashion way – spending quality time together! What better way to spend some quality time with loved ones than by getting out some classic (and other not so classic) board games for a night of laughs, competition and fun!

These are just a few of the many games that you can enjoy with the family. These and so many others are available to entertain and build teamwork skills.

Cribbage

This game combines Math and Strategy as you move your pegs around the course to the goal. And while this game may be over challenging for the younger crew members, it can be easily adapted to fit the skill set needed so everyone can enjoy learning the game.

Rubik’s Battle

This game can be played by just about everyone. It is fast paced as you show your card, then spot the color that is unique to your card as compared to the others and shout the color out. The winner takes everyone’s card ad the game continues until one person has all the cards in the deck. The basic game is set for 2 to 6 players with a recommended age of 7 and up. If you need to adapt the game for younger players, try pairing up older and younger siblings.

Mouth Guard Challenge

This game makes your face hurt! Not from the required mouth guards used in the game but from all the laughter. My cheeks hurt after just a few rounds of this crazy game. There are 1,100 challenge phrases that you have to say and others have to try to guess what you are saying. This game can also be modified when you have younger players that can’t read. Just have someone whisper the phrase to them before the round begins. We also made up a few of our own phrases for the younger ones.

How to Rob a Bank

Okay while I don’t feel this is a skill set that any of my children really need to learn, this game is a riot. As one person controls the bank, the other players are the robbers. The game involves keeping secret strategies as the robbers move through the bank trying to pick up money bags and avoiding setting off the alarms or getting caught. Teamwork is the key to this game is the robbers want to make off with the loot. Of course the banker will do everything they can to stop the robbers and foil their plans.

My Thoughts:

Bring Back Family Time When You Disconnect to Connect
Family game nights have always been something we have enjoyed. It’s a time of laughter and relaxation.A time for conversations and spending time with the ones that are important in our lives.

Life is so busy. Our family like most have something booked for every evening between sports, social groups, and meetings or classes. If not careful, days can go by without each of us being able to interact with each other and this is not a good way to keep the relationships within the family strong. Also several of our children are now married with children of their own so making time for the families to get together each week takes commitment.

On our game night, we gather for an easy meal followed by a time of fellowship and games. Early in the evening we play games that everyone can join and as the evening progresses, the games become more challenging as the competition between sibling groups rise.

As a parent, I can tell you the sound of your children laughing and enjoying time together is priceless. The effort needed to encourage children to disconnect from the outside world and their devices is so worth the bonds built through spending time together as a family.

Start planning a family game night for your crew. All the games shared above are available on Amazon. Make family night a regular part of your planning and scheduling each week. You and your family will be blessed.
