The 5 Best Ways to Plan Your Summer Move

April 21, 2018 by Pam Maynard

Is Your Family Moving?

Moving is one of those tasks in life that you may drudge having to do. It can cause you to procrastinate up until the very last minute. For a summer move, this can end up costing you both time and money. Here are some of the best ways to plan a summer move for your family.

The 5 Best Ways to Plan Your Summer Move

Plan Ahead

Decide how you want to move. For example, you can do it yourself or you can hire movers like Affordable Moving Company. Make sure to schedule out in advance so that you don’t have to reschedule your move at the last minute. Summer is a busy time and can make it more difficult to rent a truck or find movers to help.

Find Your Supplies

You have options when it comes to finding boxes and other moving supplies. Some retailers would be more than happy to have you take their used boxes off of their hands. You can also purchase boxes from a variety of stores. If you’re planning on moving yourself, plan ahead for how you’re going to obtain furniture dollies and other tools to assist you.

Get Started Packing

Don’t delay on your packing. Start with the items that will be missed the least. Work your way up to the items that are more commonly used. For kids, create a bag with extra clothes, favorite toys and books, and any other essential supplies. You don’t want them to have a meltdown during the moving process.

Label It All

Clearly label all of your boxes. This will make it easier to find things and to sort them at your new home. Moving can be stressful enough without the hassle of not being able to find your things at your new home. Take some of the stress out of the situation by being prepared and organized.

The 5 Best Ways to Plan Your Summer Move

Consider the Weather

The summer months can have extreme weather conditions. Take this into consideration when you’re planning your move. If you’re moving yourself, you may want to get up early and move before the heat of the day. This can cut down on any added stress to your body due to heat exhaustion.

Planning to move during the summer can make it a little more complicated. Trucks or movers are more likely to be booked during this time frame. To avoid adding extra stress to the situation, schedule things out in advance. This will help your move to go a little smoother for the whole family.
