Keeping Acne Prone Skin Smooth and Supple

February 15, 2018 by Pam Maynard

One wonders why nature decided that skin imperfections are best displayed for all and sundry on the face. Very few people can claim to never have suffered from acne or at least some form of breakout on their face. When your oil glands clog up due to oily secretions, they close up pores, thus preventing your skin from ‘breathing’. Yes, your skin needs to breathe too.

When that happens, your skin simply breaks out. You have pimples and blackheads that are quite unsightly. Consequently, you have to look for some sort of restorative treatment to get your flawless skin back. You become very familiar with websites like Skincarerejuvenation.org and cleansing regimes.

What causes acne?

  • Hormones
  • Heredity
  • Stress
  • Bacteria

It is a known fact that women are more susceptible to acne than men. Hormonal issues arising from the cycles a woman goes through can make your skin to breakout. It is no wonder that acne is more prevalent in adolescents than in adults seeing as this is the time the hormones begin to make their presence felt. That is not to say that adults do not get acne.

Acne affects oily skin more than it does the other skin types. If your skin is too cosy with acne, here are a few tips on how to keep it at bay:

  1. Gentle cleansing does it.

While you are at it, ensure that the cleanser you use is mild. A harsh one will only make your acne worse. What a harsh cleanser does is to undresses your skin leaving it bare and defenseless against bacteria. Look for cleansers that will balance your oiliness out without stripping it of essential oils.

  1. Go easy on the exfoliation.

You have heard that you must scrub your face to get rid of dead skin. That is all good as long as you don’t overdo it. Massage your face gently using your fingertips but avoid ingredients that might scrub the skin raw. Once you have rinsed off, pat dry (do not rub!) with a soft towel.

  1. Keep your make up kits clean.

Just like dirty hands can transfer bacteria from surfaces to your skin, so can make up brushes and sponges. Wash the brushes and puffs every fortnight and sponges on a weekly basis. You could also disinfect them as often as you clean them. Store them carefully; don’t leave them out in the open.

  1. Your choice in makeup matters.

With breakouts, the first thing you want to do is conceal. You must be careful with the kind of makeup that goes onto acne prone skin. Check the ingredients carefully. It might be a good idea to consider naturally obtained products. Those are less likely to have ingredients that will cause a reaction.

  1. Haircare products.

That fringe that you love so much could be the cause of your woes. Some hair products tend to cause breakouts wherever they touch: forehead, neck, or back for long hair. If your haircare products contain problematic ingredients, it is time to ditch them for gentler ones.

  1. Quit touching your face!

As mentioned earlier, bacteria can make an exodus to your face via your hands. That goes for picking at pimples too. No matter how annoying that little lump on your face is, popping it might only turn it into a beacon.

Good skin that can work with whatever is thrown on it is the privilege of a few, but you can achieve it if you know and accept that yours may need a little help with skincare rejuvenationusing the right products that will not aggravate your skin, but will restore it and keep it supple and smooth.
