The bathroom- Likely one of the most frequented rooms in your home, it is also the family workhorse. This is where so many unsightly applications occur to make human beings presentable. Wouldn’t it be nice, though, to have a family bathroom that is less of a place you must be and more of an area where you enjoy being. After all, you have little choice than to visit several times a day.
Organization is Key
Before you begin thinking over the merits of kiddie shower curtains versus an adult variety, you should really plunge (no pun intended) into your bathroom’s organizational dilemmas. It’s bound to have some simply because most bathrooms are on the smaller side. Take time to think of unique ways to store hair accoutrements, hygiene products, makeup, bath toys, and the myriad of other items we use in the bathroom. Consider matching baskets or containers, open shelving, and jars for small items to help wrangle some of the mess.
Décor is Important
Often, bathrooms are barren wastelands of necessity. To make it something special, you need to go beyond the economics of organization. Some companies, like Build.ca, know how nice it is to have the option to decorate your bathroom. Once you have the clutter collected, it’s time to decorate your bathroom in a comfortable, open way. Since bathrooms tend to be stuffy, it isn’t a bad idea choose clean, light colors. Darker accent pieces are a great way to keep the room from being bland. Although matching towels and tasteful shower curtains are huge parts of well-kept bathrooms so are smaller elements such as towel bars and toilet paper holders.
Cleanliness is Essential
Lots of unsightly things occur in the bathroom. Ironically, it’s the room where we make ourselves clean. While having a pretty, organized bathroom is nice, it serves little purpose if it’s dirty. Complete counter wiped downs daily, and clean the toilet at least every couple of days. Cleaning the inside of the bowl is a no brainer, but don’t forget the outside. The tub can usually go a week or two without a deep clean if your family rinses it thoroughly after each use. Don’t forget to polish the mirrors and floors, as well. While it’s fine to use cleaning clothes in the bathroom, you may choose paper towels to avoid accidental cross contamination.
All of the above are important to make your bathroom great, but it’s essential to personalize it for your family. If you have small children, you may want to steer clear of towels that stain easily. If it’s only you and your significant other, it’s much less of an issue to go all white if you’d like. Just don’t forget who you’re making the room special for as you’re going through the fun, satisfying motions of organizing, decorating, and cleaning.
