The term foodie arrived around 1980 referring to people who loved cooking and eating food.
kifoodie is a company that makes a monthly subscription box that is specially designed for your children.
Who is kifoodie and how does it work? This experience box was created by Kim Young, a mom of four children, author, founder of Healthy Little Cooks and a certified nutritionist. She found out that if given the chance, kids can be amazing in the kitchen. Some after school programs that teach cooking can be really expensive. So, she founded kifoodie.
Each kifoodie Experience Box has 2-4 kitchen gadgets and products, a fun culinary activity (with a healthy twist), recipe, shopping list, badge and a mystery bag of 3-5 treats and snacks.
I received the April box with a fun project in it to make hollow chocolate eggs that we could fill with treats or other stuff and then the materials to decorate them.
Our box had a silicone egg mold, a dish towel, a ceramic ramekin, a silicone spatula, gold sugar dust, and a couple of food paint brushes. In the mystery bag, there was mini chocolate chips, ginger cookies and a V8 VFusion drink.
These would make the greatest gifts for any child. No matter the age, there is a box for them. Is your child a toddler, an elementary age child, or is she an experienced teen cook? There’s a box for every child.
Healthy Little Cooks Initiatives is a program fiscally sponsored by Strong City Baltimore, created by the kifoodie founder, Kim Young. It provides Hands on culinary nutrition education programs to schools, kids and communities using active learning strategies that encourage families to cook healthy.
Kim Young has also published a book titled 5-Minute Lunchbox. It’s all about showing you that packing healthy lunches can be fun, delicious and healthy. Oh, and it only takes 5 minutes. There are over 25 easy recipes, 5 weeks of meal plans, complete with shopping lists and preparation guides. It can’t be any easier. Oh, and there are tips for picky eaters!
