What do you get for the person in your life when there is a holiday or birthday coming up? Some get flowers, some get gift cards, for me…I’d like BOOKS! I love books and Ulysses Press knows what books people want.
Because of helpful websites, ideas for Do It Yourself projects come as fast as your internet will load. But there is nothing like having a book in front of you, showing you picture by picture, what happens next, being able to write in the margins. I know, my elementary school librarian is ALWAYS in my head telling me to NOT write in books, but sometimes, you just have to make your own notes!.
This Easter and Mother’s Day, check out these fun books! Fill a basket with them and chocolate (every day deserves chocolate). Here are five of my new favorites:
Smart Mom’s Guide to Essential Oils: Essential Oils are a great alternative to chemical filled medicines. They are also used for freshening air, cleaning, live a healthy life. This handbook also features a regimen to reduce stress, increase energy and sustain your own personal vitality.
DIY Industrial Pipe Furniture & Decor: Ever watch home improvement shows and someone goes to the hardware store and makes a cool kitchen shelf or fun side table? Well, knowing how I am, I’d go to the store and leave half of what I need at the store, on the shelf because I have no idea how to make anything. This book is awesome! It includes over 400 step-by-step pictures to walk you through lots of fun projects from coat hooks to dog beds.
Home Decor Cheat Sheets: Learn to decorate your home yourself. In this fun, picture-filled book, learn to match your furniture, brighten rooms with natural light, arranging art walls, learn how to buy the perfect rug, create dramatic lighting effects, and learn to use throw pillows to finish off a room.
The Modern Salad: Spring time is for getting ready for bathing suit season, wanting to get healthy and not want to get burned out on lettuce while you do it. This fun book has lots of great recipes for salads. I didn’t even know half of these things went together, but my chef husband guaranteed me that these are great ideas and they would all taste amazing! Some of the recipes in this book include Masala Chai Braised Pork and Garlic Udon Salad, Gilled Peach and Corn Salad, and Grilled Calamari Salad. In all, there are more than 40 recipes to make you Spring into Summer.
Crafting with Wood Pallets: Projects for Rustic Furniture, Decor, Art, Gifts and More…This book is what I’m most excited about. I love looking at these projects online, but I have no concept of how to make them. Even with online instructions, I can’t figure them out. But this book! Oh my, the project I can learn to make! Or, I’ll just read it, mark the pages I want to some day accomplish and wear it out by dreaming of the lovely projects featured. There are more than 25 in this book.
