At some point in your lifetime you will need to borrow a vehicle from a friend, relative, or even your neighbor! You never know when you might need a truck to help move furniture, have a family emergency when your own car isn’t available, or if you need something more reliable to go on a longer journey. Truly, borrowing a vehicle happens to all of us and how you return the vehicle may be more important than you think. You don’t want your favorite Uncle to secretly be angry over how you returned his new truck do you? Find out the do’s and don’ts of borrowing a vehicle below.
DO — Fill the car/truck up when you’re done.
DON’T — Return the car on empty.
DO — Try to remember where the driver’s seat was and put it back before you exit.
DON’T — Leave the driver’s seat so close to the steering wheel that he/she can’t get back in!
DO — Wash the vehicle if you encounter anything unusual (bugs on the front end, mud on tires, etc.)
DON’T — Return the vehicle covered in dirt!
DO — Remove all trash and vacuum the interior.
DON’T — Eat in your friend’s/relative’s car!
DO — Replace all items you use (paper towels under the seat, tissues in the glove box)
DON’T — Smoke inside their car!! (BIG ONE)
DO — Return the car!
DON’T — Ask your friend/relative to pick the car up from you!
DO — Drive extra cautiously.
DON’T — Drive without auto insurance in your own name… just in case.
DO — Return the vehicle timely.
DON’T — Keep the vehicle past the time requested/agreed.
