Florida has this amazing ability to grow crops year-round, and aside from its beautiful beaches, I think agriculture is their super power! Right now, while much of the country is battling snowstorms and blizzards, Florida has more than twenty crops in season! And not just any crops, but some of our favorites like strawberries, tomato, cucumber, peppers, and spinach! There isn’t a single meal prepared in our home that doesn’t include a #FreshFromFlorida ingredient because Florida Farmers make it easy for everyone to eat fresh produce anytime.
Do you know how to find Fresh From Florida?
Look for the label!
Look for food, produce, seafood, etc. labeled Fresh From Florida. If you’re still not sure what to look for, checkout the Fresh From Florida Seasonality page! There, you can see what’s in season now, and when your favorite produce will be in season again. They even have a great chart that shows when their thirty-plus crops can be found in local markets.
Speaking of markets!
One of our favorite markets is in Saint Augustine. The Old City Farmer’s Market is where locals and tourist can find delicious Fresh From Florida products (even seafood) every Saturday at the St. Augustine Amphitheater! You can, truly, pickup everything you need for your #FreshFromFlorida feast at the market!
Think you’re ready to try Fresh From Florida at home? Watch this recipe tutorial video for Florida Arugula, Berry and Citrus Salad! (Yum!) What I love most about this video is that it shows us how to properly prepare a Florida Orange for salads — have you ever tried to cut an orange like this before?
