Mistletoe at Moonglow
Deborah Garner
For a fun, holiday read, Mistletoe at Moonglow will fit the ticket. This novella, written by Deborah Garner, tells the story of an unlikely group of people, gathering at a bed and breakfast during the Christmas holiday, healing each from their emotional turmoil.
Mist, a newly hired chef, and artist celebrated her first Christmas at Moonglow. She is a lady, who is all alone in the world. She had a restaurant that had recently closed and she is making a brand new start at the Moonglow.
Betty, owner of the Moonglow Bed and Breakfast is the caretaker of all her guests. She is perfectly happy with her newly hired chef, Mist. She is amazed at all the help she has been since coming onboard and opening her restaurant inside the B & B.
Clive is Betty’s fiance. He loves to sample any and everything that Mist cooks. He shows up as candies are placed into a bowl at the reception desk. He loves to drink newly brewed coffee and he also fancies taste testing all creations Mist brings out.
Michael Blanton, a quiet gentleman that sits by the fire every year and reads books and stays to himself. He suffered an injury to his leg and has been visiting Moonglow for more than 10 years.
The Morrisons are a family of three, previously a family of four. They are mourning the loss of their oldest son. Their surviving son is about 7 years old and is an angry boy. He wants life to go back to normal. Mama Morrison is in deep depression while daddy Morrison has no idea how to cope with the loss. They are all lost souls wondering the bed and breakfast during their first Christmas without their oldest boy.
There is an English man, a professor that is staying for Christmas because he was unable to get to London for the holidays. He is without family in America and very lonely. A grumpy man gets a wonderful surprise when Mist doesn’t let his gruff attitude deter her from being friendly.
And the last guest, a lady who is newly single. She was supposed to visit the bed and breakfast with her fiance but since they are newly broken up, only she made the trip.
Each with their own handicaps, each one seems to heal a little during their snowed-in holiday weekend at Moonglow. This is a story that will make you smile and put you in the holiday spirit.
The Timberton Hotel has always provided a perfect Christmas retreat for regular guests, as well as newcomers. But the small town of Timberton, Montana, hasn’t been the same since resident chef and artist, Mist, arrived, bringing a unique new age flavor to the old western town.
When guests check in for the holidays, they bring along worries, fears and broken hearts, unaware that Mist has a way of working magic in people’s lives. Old-fashioned time spent together, exquisite food, conversation and a snowball or two offer guests a chance to trade sadness for hope. One thing is certain: no matter how cold winter’s grip is on each guest, no one leaves Timberton without a warmer heart.
