Building Precious Memories: 4 Ways To Create More Family Time

December 20, 2016 by Pam Maynard

For many families, it can be difficult to get enough time together each day due to busy schedules and distractions. Kids are busy with homework at the end of the day whereas parents are often occupied with cooking and cleaning before it’s time for bed. To ensure that you create more family time, there are a few important steps to take.

1. Eat Dinner Together Each Day

An easy and practical way of spending more time together is to eat dinner together each night at the dining table. Make a rule of not using your cell phone as you eat to ensure that you can make conversation and connect by talking about your day. Cooking a homemade meal together will also allow you to enjoy time together without distractions to strengthen your family bond.

2. Schedule Annual Trips

It’s important to escape your responsibilities and routine to ensure that you can spend time together as a family on a trip that you schedule for vacation. Spend one or two weeks together in a beautiful destination that allows you to relax and create new memories. Each family member can have their input on where they want to vacation each year, which will make for a special memory that brings more unity to the family.

3. Create an Entertainment Space

You can create more family time without having to leave the home by building an entertainment space. Consider building home theater systems that allow you to watch movies together where you can relax and enjoy a fun experience without having to leave or spend ridiculous amounts of money. You can even add a popcorn machine and stock the room with candy to make it feel like a movie theater.

4. Build a Pool

Make it easy to keep your family close to home by building a pool in the backyard where you can cool off from the summer heat and lounge outside. The pool will make for a great place to gather around and have fun without staying cooped up indoors during the summer season. Consider adding a volleyball net or a diving board to create a place where you can have hours of fun.

Although it can be challenging to find ways of spending time with your family, there are several tips to follow to ensure that you can grow together and develop a strong bond. By creating opportunities for fun and entertainment, you’ll find that it’s easy to create new memories over the years.
