What do you call a game that is a little bit of Skylanders and a little bit of Jenga? It sounds like a whole lot of fun, right? That is why I am so excited to introduce to you, a hot new game just in time for Christmas: Beasts of Balance. It is a game where Skylanders meets Jenga and board game meets video game. Your entire family will love it!
Intrigued? Let me tell you how this game works. Beasts of Balance comes complete with 1 Plinth, which will be used to build your tower on; 6 Beast Artefacts, including bear, eagle, octopus, shark, toucan and warthog; 2 Miracle Artefacts; 3 Migrate Artefacts; 3 Cross Artefacts and 10 Element Artefacts, from the elements of air, Earth, fire and water.
Download the free Beasts of Balance app for iOS or Andriod. Be sure there are 3 AA batteries installed into the Plinth and you’re ready to start. The Beast of Balance app (Bob) will tell you which artefact to begin building your world with. Each artefact has a technology chip inside that is read by the app which “sees” the Plinth. Scan the artefact by swiping it in front of the Plinth and begin by stacking it on top of the Plinth. You will need to stack each artefact carefully because if the world (tower) falls, you only have seconds to rebuild it or the game is over!
The app interaction makes creating new worlds fun and exciting. The Bob app directs the game while compiling points for easy score keeping, providing you with hours of fun!
Beasts of Balance has already racked up several awards and industry reviews. It was named the 2015 Indiecade Technology Awards and The Guardian’s 25 Most Anticipated Games of 2016. Toys for Games said, “All signs are pointing to Fabulous Beasts being the next evolution of the toys-to-life genre of gaming.” Pocket Gamer stated, “As a party game, it might end up as one of the best.”
Beasts of Balance is a refreshing change in the gaming industry. It gives parents what they want…a little more traditional game playing and youngsters what they want…technology, baby!
Just a tip: I ran across a little snag setting the Bob app up because I didn’t have my location (gps enabled) on my smartphone. The app could not “see” the Plinth and I had to email support. They were quick to reply, very friendly, and told me what to try to resolve the situation. I was very pleased with the support. So, be sure to turn on your location before installing the app, friends!
Overall, we have really enjoyed playing Beasts of Balance. It is a challenge that our family is now addicted to! 😉 We love it! See for yourself how this unique game is played.
