Eyelash Extension Beauty Tips: What is the Best Makeup for your Lash Extensions?

November 24, 2016 by Pam Maynard

Have you just had some eyelash extensions? Well, fact is, you look amazing. However, the sad part is most of your makeup has to go. Normally classic eyelash extensions are designed to last up to 8 weeks if you take good care of them. However, most women do not know that makeup can actually ruin the allure and freshness of eyelash extensions and unless you get rid of them, you might not look as fabulous as you imagined yourself.

Read on for some eyelash extension tips.   Here is what needs to go from your make up kit;

  • Oil based makeup remover – to prolong your eyelash extensions life, you must keep them as clean as possible. Surprisingly, oil based makeup removers are a big no when it comes to eyelash extension. Although they are the best in removing stubborn makeup, using these removers to get rid of your eye makeup will weaken the glue on your eyelash extensions.
  • Eye pencil liner – the last thing you want when wearing lash extensionsis for the lashes to get tangled, right? Well, using a pencil liner along your lash line might just interfere with the eyelash extensions and in some cases the lashes might even fallout.
  • Water proof liquid eye liner – this kind of eye liners are designed to last long and removing them is not easy. Just like liquid mascara’s, wearing water proof eye liners will weaken your eyelash extensions day after day. What is even worse is the fact that your eyelash extensions will not look and feel as fresh as they need to be.
  • Tube mascara – mascara is good for your eyelash extensions. However, there are some types of mascaras, for example the tube mascaras that stick to the lashes like glue. When you use tube mascara on you eyelash extensions, you will have to lose some lashes as you try to take off the mascara.

Now that you are fully aware of what not to use, you can now go ahead and book an appointment with a professional eyelash extension technician. Yes, I said professional because believe you me, not everyone who says is an eyelash technician is a good at their job. Here are a few ways you can use when finding that one person who will do a good job on your lashes.

  • Research widely and wisely: Nowadays, we can actually find almost everything we need on the internet. And now that beauty parlors and boutiques are announcing their services online, you will truly find a good eyelash technician online. Read keenly through different websites or blogs and am sure that you will find exactly what you are looking for.
  • Get recommendations from friends: Every lady (woman) has that one friend that is obsessed with makeup, or at least a friend of a friend. Well, you can get recommendations from such pals since they revolve around those circles.
  • Understand how to care for your lashes: For your eyelash extensions to look fresh for longer, you must learn how to care for them. This includes not wearing the above mentioned makeup pieces, avoiding contact with water for at least 24 hours after the procedure and going for professional maintenance at least twice in the 8 weeks.
