How to Decorate Your Car for Halloween Trunk-or-Treat Events #ad

October 20, 2016 by Victoria

Over the past few years Trick-or-Treating has become less and less safe for children. Because of this, many communities and churches have started a new tradition:  Truck-or-Treat. Truck-or-Treat provides families with the flexibility to be choosy, and limit who they will come into contact with while enjoying Halloween festivities.  It is where a group/business/church/organization gathers together in a parking lot or field with decorated cars.  Children can then trick-or-treat in a safe environment together with other families.

No really, it’s a bid deal! Even for Adults!

What adult participants love about Truck-or-Treating is that it gives them the opportunity to be really creative.  People decorate the trunk area of their cars with elaborate themes — it’s like a parade float, only, the float doesn’t move!

How to Decorate Your Car for Trunk-or-Treat

You can go simple — or a little crazy!

Simple Halloween Theme:  If this is your first Trunk-or-Treat and you’re trying to figure out if you will like it, try a simple Halloween theme.  Use a simple fog machine, string a few lights, and heavily stretch fake spider web across your trunk of your vehicle.  Don’t forget the spiders!

Minecraft:  Decorate boxes to look like Minecraft Blocks and build a wall inside the truck of your car.  Light the way with a Minecraft Wall Torch that you can make with cardboard, tape, and a battery-powered light.  Of course, don’t forget to dress up as one of your kid’s favorite Minecraft characters!

Go Interactive!  Some of our favorite Truck-or-Treat vehicles have been those that incorporate a game into their theme.  Glow in the dark ring toss using glow necklaces, sports and goal themes, or spinning wheels are always fun for participants!

How to Use Holiday Lights on Your Car

If you are the kind of person that wants to go all out on decorating with lights, then you need to know how to get power to your vehicle in the middle of a parking lot. Choose LED lights that are solar powered and allow them to charge outside for the entire day before the event OR grab an inverter for your car. An inverter simply plugs into your car power plug (just like a cell phone charger) to convert your car’s electric output. This will allow you to plug in anything that would normally plug into your house sockets!

Happy Trunk-or-Treating!
