5 Natural Remedies For Most Any Illness

September 1, 2016 by Pam Maynard

At some point in everyone’s life, illness strikes. It is very common to head to the doctor in search of a remedy, but often the solution can be found in natural cures. Exercise, healthy nutrition, herbal remedies, controlled breathing, and meditation are all capable of producing similar results to many prescribed medications while saving both time and money on the part of the patient. Here are some different natural remedies that you may want to check out.

5 Natural Remedies For Most Any Illness

Exercise

Exercise is cited by many doctors as one of the foremost methods to treat a variety of illnesses including fatigue, stress, and anxiety. A variety of studies show that participating in a vigorous activity that raises the heart rate for at least twenty minutes each day can reduce many symptoms of illness that an you might exhibit. Find a workout routine that you enjoy, and stick to it! You will see lifelong benefits start to emerge in no time at all.

Healthy Nutrition

In addition to exercise, a nutritious diet is key in avoiding many illnesses. Foods such as leafy greens, oranges, rice, nuts, and eggs can help an individual cope with stress and anxiety while berries, mushrooms, oysters, and yogurt all help boost the immune system. Make sure to eat a variety of foods each day and, of course, drink plenty of water.

Herbal Remedies

Beyond daily exercise and nutrition, there are many natural herbal remedies that can support natural cures to many illnesses. Rosemary, for example, can treat migraines as well as minor aches and pains. Another helpful herb, sage, can remedy a sore throat, coughs, and even ulcers. Mint can provide help for an upset stomach, can cool burns, and, of course, can freshen breath. These are only a few of the many herbal remedies that can be useful to cure common illnesses or ailments.

Controlled Breathing

Finding a controlled breathing technique that works for you is a very effective way to lower your heart rate and blood pressure almost immediately. There are many different varieties of controlled breathing, but a popular type is roll breathing. In this technique, place your right hand on your abdomen and left hand on your chest. As you inhale, try to first make only your left hand move and then try only making your right hand move. Inhale and exhale slowly and repeat this process until you feel calm. This promotes deep breathing and almost immediately provides relief to stress and anxiety.

Meditation

Finally, controlling your thoughts through meditation is a very natural way to cure many ailments. Many stress related illnesses can be alleviated greatly through the power of positive thinking and meditation provides a tool that can be used to achieve this goal. In order to meditate effectively, there are several steps to follow. First, find a word or phrase that you want to repeat. This is called a mantra. Second, find a comfortable place to sit, close your eyes, and start breathing in a controlled manner. Finally, repeat your mantra for approximately 20-30 minutes. When time is up, stop and continue to sit in silence until you feel ready to resume normal daily activities.

Conclusion

Though there are illnesses that do require professional attention, many can be cured with natural remedies at home. By maintaining a daily exercise plan and a healthy diet you can ward off potential sicknesses before they become a problem. If you do become sick, try an herbal remedy first and to combat stress use controlled breathing and/or meditation. By combining these methods you will be living a healthier lifestyle that will promote a strong immune system and a healthy mind, body, and soul.
