Easy Honey Ham and Provolone Pinwheels #Recipe

August 22, 2016 by Misty Stephens

I had a prayer meeting coming up at my home.  Due to it being at dinner time, I wanted to make something that was easy and filling.  I knew others would be bringing desserts and finger-foods,  but I wanted to make something that was a little more substantial.  I decided to make one of my children’s favorite dinners, and just double the recipe for the larger group.  They love my Honey Ham and Provolone Pinwheels, so since they are easy and fast, it was an simple choice.

These little rolls are so delicious, and they are addicting.  I really do not think I could eat just one pinwheel.  They were a hit at the prayer meeting, and there were no leftovers.

Here is what you need to make them:

  • 13.8 ounce pizza dough
  • 8 ounces Honey Ham
  • 8 ounces Provolone Cheese
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter
  • Sea Salt
  • Tin foil
  • Non-stick cooking spray

This recipe is easy and very forgiving.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.  First open the pizza dough and stretch it out on a clean surface.  I made a hole in mine by accident, but it is okay because it gets rolled up it will not matter.  Then lay out the ham across the pizza dough.  Follow that with laying the cheese on top of the ham.  Next roll the dough up into a roll.

Move the entire roll onto a cutting board, and beginning slicing the dough into around 1/2″ cuts.  Line a cookie sheet with tin foil, and spray liberally with non-stick cooking spray.  This is not a step to skip, since they refuse to come off the tin foil without the spray.  Then all the yummy, melty cheese is wasted!  Place all the slices onto the cookie sheet face up so the pinwheel shows.

Now it is time to add the butter.  Melt it in a glass bowl, and then brush it on top of each pinwheel.  Next sprinkle sea salt over the whole cookie sheet.  Last thing to do is pop the sheet into the oven and let it bake for about 25 minutes.  Check on it and then you can broil it for a little while.  Be sure to stay and watch it broil, so it does not burn.  Once the cheese is perfectly bubbly and done to your liking, pull it out.

Let it cool for a few minutes, then pull off your Honey Ham and Provolone Pinwheels and put them on a serving dish for a family dinner, party, potluck, or anything else you need food for.  If you need more than about 20 pinwheels, you will want to double the recipe.  I hope these easy, quick pinwheels are a hit with your family and friends.
