It’s time for school to start back and that means mom is going to be spending a lot more time in her mobile office! It’s amazing how much time one parent will spend in their vehicle during a typical school week. Just think about it — the morning commute, the afternoon commute, sports practice, dance practice, music lessons, PTA meetings, library visits — we haven’t even hit the fun stuff, like, grocery shopping and other errands.
Mom needs to take advantage of every spare minute she has, and a lot of those spare minutes are within the four walls of the family car! This is why we call it “Mom’s mobile office!”
Creating a Mobile Office for Mom
Organizing mom’s mobile office is much like organizing the home. You need to create storage with easy access to everything mom will need in a seamless way. Nothing should be bulky or require an excessive amount of room. This is why finding organizers specifically designed for your vehicle is a must!
The first thing I need in my mobile office is a cell phone holder that mounts to the windshield. I prefer the designs that will hold my phone securely. They allow me to disconnect from the phone in a way I can’t when the phone is near my hand, AND I don’t need to worry about losing my phone in an accident situation.
When the car isn’t moving, I require a laptop holder/tray that can attach to the steering wheel (while parked), or hang on the backside of the seat. Having a table top to work from can really make working on the go much easier for any mom. Whether mom is organizing her grocery list, imputing data into the family budget, writing a blog post, or closing a major business deal — having a laptop table specifically for the car is imperative.
And finally, because I want to keep all of “mom’s stuff” securely in the front of the vehicle, I recommend a console organizer. Our Expedition has a center console that can really hold a lot of stuff — or lose a lot of stuff! The only way to maximize the space I’m given is to use an organizer in the console that allows everything I need (pens, highlighters, tablet, extra chargers, notepad, etc) to be kept securely and found quickly.
