Back to School is in full swing all around the country and one of the biggest topics of conversation is — school lunch! Many school systems are now going nut free, leaving those of us without nut allergies wondering how we will survive without the easy PB&J lunch!
Here’s a secret… it’s still easy!
There are dozens of options for your child’s lunch that don’t involve nuts. We love wraps, crackers and cheese, DIY pizza pitas, and SANDWICHES! Yes, we do enjoy a great sandwich here at Mom Does Reviews! Just because we can’t enjoy that all-time favorite, doesn’t mean you should stop stocking up on bread!

For this #BTS School Lunch recipe, we are going to share one of my boys’ favorites: Ham & Pineapple Hawaiian Slider Sandwiches!
There are few things my kindergartner likes more than ham and pineapple. Lucky for me, they go together fantastically on a sandwich AND is reasonably inexpensive!
Everything I needed for this lunch, including snacks, came to -$2.50 a day.

The sandwich is as easy as it gets. Layer your favorite sliced ham and fresh pineapple between two pieces of Hawaiian bread rolls. By using the bread rolls instead of loaf slices, I know the sandwich will be moist enough to not require any sauce/spreads, while also avoiding becoming soggy from the excess pineapple juices.
No sauce or spreads?
You read that correctly. I don’t use anything on the bread. No mayo, mustard, or sweetened spread. The only ingredients between the roll is ham and pineapple.
Why?
This is how I please my young son, but my teen (who puts mayo on everything) even enjoys this sandwich plain.
If you have a “mustard/mayo on everything kid”
keep ’em happy and add whatever spread they want!
