Phillip is a professional working at a very conservative corporation. Because he had worked so hard to get where he was, he decided to not come out to his company. He figures his being gay doesn’t affect the job he is doing, so he hires escorts to accompany him to his work functions, and no one is the wiser.
Jason, Phillip’s partner is okay with being quiet about their relationship. He knew the pressures that Phillip is under in order to stay with his company. He is okay with Phillip going to functions with women because he knew there was no chance of an affair, until Emily enters the picture.
Emily, an actress, is Phillip’s sister’s new roommate whom agrees to go to a function with Phillip as a one time only gig. Emily likes Phillip a little more than she should and could feel a bond with him from the start. They like the same types of movies, have similar investment theories and generally enjoy spending time with each other.
Soon, Phillip notices that he wanted to spend more and more time with Emily. It was odd to him, but wanted to find out what the attraction was. He and Emily went more and more places together until one night they make love. Knowing it was wrong, Emily decided to stop helping Phillip out. She knew her feelings toward him were getting stronger and didn’t want her heart to break in a million pieces when it didn’t work out.
However, Phillip knew that she was different. Eventually, after being discovered while out on a date with Jason, Phillip needed his job with the investment firm. He came clean with Jason about what had happened with Emily. They also went their separate ways.
Phillip knew that his attraction to Emily was a rare thing. He was still attracted to men, however, his attraction to Emily was stronger. He pleaded with her to give him a second chance and they become a couple.
Phillip and Emily move in together and open a new business with help from his former secretary. They settle into a comfortable life, but the fear of Phillip leaving Emily for another man weighs heavy on her. She always thinks “what if” in the back of her mind.
Marriage and a baby follow the two young lovers. But before long, old fears strike Emily in her heart. She would notice little things like men making passes at Phillip and even though he doesn’t return their attraction, Emily is scared. She lets her fear get the better of her.
Somehow, Phillip and Emily conquer love and attraction to let everyone know, gay or straight, man or woman, if it’s meant to be, it will be. They were only meant for each other, no matter the obstacles that present themselves.
