Mom’s Thoughts
I am happy to introduce any toy to my children that is able to bridge learning and playing. In addition to being fun and interactive, Geomag is a STEM toy. STEM is an acronym that stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. These four areas are are utilized in this toy, allowing the children to see the links between the subjects. These types of toys help to start this type of education early on. This Geomag construction kit my son received had him thinking and planning out his designs. Certain magnets repel and attract because of different polarities; therefore my son had to put them in certain positions to achieve his goal.
The magnetic balls and the bars can be used to engineer many types of structures. The magnetic forces are used to make different sections react and move. One tower my son built was able to spin around when he held up another magnet of the opposite polarity. It was fun to watch him carefully build his tower. At one point he realized he needed to turn some of the pieces around to get them to move correctly. Through trial and error he was able to learn a lot about how magnets work. He was learning practical life skills, and he did not even realize it.
He was able to make his whole tower spin, and achieve a sense of pride. Due to the nature of this toy, he was able to really use his imagination. He has built many other things with his Geomag kit. The colors are bright and attractive which appeals to children of most ages. In addition there is a vast variety of construction kits to keep your children happy with constant imagination igniters. Furthermore the more kits you get the bigger and more complex the creations can become.
