It is that time of year again, when parents are scrambling to finishing up their school shopping and teachers are anxious to return to their classrooms. Everyone is thinking ahead because next month will be here before we know it and there is so much left to do!
In preparation for the new school year, I have been thinking non-stop about the perfect BTS vehicle for our family. We have to make a decision before the school starts back and we have constantly changed our minds. Yesterday I decided we would purchase a commuter for my husband. Today I fell in love with a minivan. I couldn’t stop thinking about all the ways I would organize it, and how much room the children would have when we’re on the go. In my head I was picking out seat organizers, deciding where the preschoolers’ car seats will go … and gushing over the beautiful color! Oh! It was so pretty!
To celebrate my love affair with a new minivan, I’m going to tell you how to get your minivan ready to go back to school — in seven easy steps!
Step 1: Have your vehicle inspected. Don’t wait until the last minute, do it early so you can complete any necessary repairs.
Step 2: Don’t skip your tires! Have tires changed or rotated.
Step 3: Clean it up! Clean out your minivan, yourself, so you can see just what the kids are leaving behind!
Step 4: Evaluate if your family needs a car safety and etiquette class! Based upon your recently car clean-out, did you find items left behind by your children? Crayons? Spilled food or drink? Lonely shoes? Jackets? If so, decide what is unacceptable and how your family is going to prevent it in the future.
Step 5: Buy organizers! Yes! Organizers are fantastic — get them! Make it easy for your children to put their everyday items that they use away! Are crayons in the car necessary? Does your daughter need a brush for emergencies? Hand sanitizer a must? Make it easy for everyone with their own organizer that is convenient for them to reach while sitting properly in their place.
Step 6: Have your minivan detailed! Say goodbye to sticky handles and dirty undercarriage! Give your minivan the all-star treatment everyone in your family will be proud of!
Step 7: Install your new organizers and stock your car! Get everything ready for the first day of school with that final round of preparation. Install your organizers and fill them with everyone’s must-haves. To be prepared for anything, grab a pack of pencils, fresh packet of paper, paper towels, and travel tissues too.
Do you feel ready to go back to school now? I do! Just reading this list has given me the motivation I need to push forward! Imagine how great you will feel after it is complete!
Don’t have a minivan? That’s okay!
