“The BFG” opens in U.S. theaters on July 1, 2016, the year that marks the 100th anniversary of Dahl’s birth.
AMAZING, WONDERFUL and MAGICAL are three words that sum up the Red Carpet Premier for The BFG Movie. How could it not be- I got to meet Steven Spielberg and the amazing actors from The BFG. I never imagined I would be walking the Red Carpet. The experience didn’t let me down. I didn’t feel like a star, but I did feel important as I magically made my way down the Red Carpet.
Let me start at the beginning of our Red Carpet Premier Experience. Remember, this is my first one ever but I did a pretty good job of pretending I was an expert. 🙂
Part One: Preparation!
We all know us girls need a little longer to get ready for such events. It started a few weeks ago for the hunt for the perfect dress and accessories. My son and his best friend Carissa came with me to the mall and we were successful in only 30 minutes. The rest of the time we spend shopping for them.
The day of the Red Carpet Event was very HOT in LA. Good thing my dress was light and only knee length. My blogger buddies and I got ready together which made it even more fun. We had a few wardrobe malfunctions, but they all worked out in the end!
Walking the Red Carpet
There is something surreal about walking the Red Carpet in Hollywood! Never in a million years did I imagine that I would be in Hollywood and walk the same Red Carpet path that so many stars have walked before and will walk in the future!
In the Hard Rock Cafe
The refreshments and entertainment were inside the fun Hard Rock Cafe! The only star that came into the Hard Rock Cafe was Mark Rylance. I did get to see him close up, but not close enough to get a great picture of him.
The food was English style- Sliders, salads, Fries all named after an English food. Of course, everyone loves ice cream and they had numerous Ice Cream bars around the cafe.
Watching The BFG Movie Premier:
After all the heat and excitement, I was thrilled to be able to sit (in the 2nd row no less) of the El Capitan Theatre and watch The BFG. The movie is magical and amazing. Mark Rylance and Ruby Barnhill play The BFG and Sophie and they have such a closeness in the movie you know they were close on set.
Don’t miss my review of the movie next week. I don’t want to spoil it for you, but be sure to pay attention to the “whizpoppers” from the Queen and her Corgis.
The whole Red Carpet Premier Experience exceeded my expectations! Even though it was close to 100 degrees, I still got goosebumps when I saw Steven Spielberg across the street. I spotted a few other stars, but none came close to Mr. Spielberg and the actors from The BFG.
Don’t miss The BFG in theaters July 1st! Bring the whole family- they will LOVE it!
Be sure to read my post on Monday when I tell you about the interview with the cutest star: Ruby Barhill who plays Sophie, and director Steven Spielberg! Don’t miss it!
