The garden is a very important space in your home, especially during the summer months. The garden should be suitable for both kids and adults, this guide will show how to make the most of your garden this summer. Getting your kids outside in the fresh air is much better for them than being stuck inside playing computer games.
1. Get the Kids Involved
Kids really love digging holes and getting messy, so why not use this to your advantage? Gardening can be hard work, but if the kids enjoy it then they can certainly help. Get them some old clothes ready and allow them to spend the weekend outside with you digging and planting vegetables. A vegetable garden for your kids is perfect, they will feel so proud when you serve their vegetables up for dinner.
2. Comfortable Seating for Adults
Your kids will have plenty of energy and enjoy running around the garden. However, adults will probably want to use the space to relax. Make sure you fit some comfortable garden furniture. Whether you choose a garden rattan sofa, or a swinging seat, just position it so you can see where your kids will normally play. That way you will be able to keep an eye on the kids while relaxing.
3. Plenty of Play Equipment for Kids
There is lots of different play equipment you can get for the garden. Choose a selection which your kids will enjoy. You could select swings, slides, sandpits and trampolines. All of these things will keep your kids active and give them some much needed exercise. If you can’t stand the look of a massive trampoline in your garden, then why not consider sinking it into the ground. This will let your kids have some fun, without needing to climb up to the trampoline, and also won’t spoil the view so much.
4. Don’t bother about Creating a Perfect Lawn!
If you have kids, then creating a flawless bowling green probably won’t be possible. Instead, just settle for something that is hard wearing and green. Kids will get a lot of enjoyment running around and playing on the grass, so what does it matter if it has a bit of moss in it? Try to create a practical and hard wearing garden everyone will enjoy.
5. Safety
Your garden also needs to be safe for your children. The lengths you need to go to will depend on how old your kids are. If they are very young then water could pose a risk. Consider filling in ponds, or at least fencing them off to prevent any accidents.
If you are stuck for ideas on how to create that perfect garden for your family this summer you could always get in touch with a local landscape gardener. They will be able to help you plan that perfect garden for your family.
