How to Decorate a Bedroom for Twins

May 9, 2016 by Pam Maynard

If you are decorating a bedroom for twins, your main task is going to be to balance design continuity with some individuality. It is also going to be up to you to provide both of the twins with some place they can call their own even though they are sharing one bedroom. This may seem like difficult job but if you take a look at the following guide, you will surely be able to do so.

Collage 1

Use Paint to Define Territories

When designing a room for twins, paint can play a really important role. You can paint walls in different colours which are going to represent territories for each of the twins. Still, you should not just use any colours they want. Make sure you choose the colours that work well together. A way to do this is to pre-select some colours that go along and then let the twins pick the combination they want. Match the beddings with the paint in each of the territories in order to create both continuity and individuality in twins’ bedroom.

Get the Same Beds

Even though you are looking to make each of the twins’ territory more individual, it is still important to get the same beds for both of them. If you get different beds and one of them is bigger than the other one, it may disrupt the balance in the room. As mentioned above, you should still choose different beddings for each of them in order to make both parts of the room more individual. It is also always a good idea to get beddings with your children’s favorite superheros. Ask them to choose a superhero for both of the beddings. Great alternative options are some animal prints.

Buy Two Desks

Another things children’s bedroom cannot go without is the desk. It is the same when it comes to a room for twins. But in this case, you will need two desks. Even though one desk would be enough while they are younger, they will surely need separate desks once they start school. Try placing desks in each of the twins’ territories in such a way both of them can easily concentrate when studying. You can also organize the desks so that they have matching PC monitors, mouse pads and pencil holders.

Get Them Separate Shelves

Even though they share the room, twins do not have to share everything else. That is why you should find room for separate shelves where each of them can keep his possessions. Still, the shelves can be the same. When it comes to toys they will keep on the shelves, you should let both of them decide which they are going to keep on the shelves. You can propose some options and let them chose. For example, it is always a good idea to get your children some superhero action figures. Batman toy is always a good option. You can also get them some plastic soldiers, toy weapons and LEGOs.

If you do all of this, each of the twins will still have some individuality in their bedroom while there would still be some balance. Remember to let each of them pick things they will keep in the room as well as to get them the same amount of toys.
