Whether it be winter or summer, outdoor recreational vehicles are always a good time. Below are a few of recreational vehicles that are safe for the whole family to enjoy when outdoors.
Snowmobile
Snowmobiles are a safe, fun vehicle to ride during the winter months. Although not everybody in your family may be old enough to operate a snowmobile, many snowmobiles allow for multiple riders. Many areas have designated snowmobile tracks, and you and your family can even take a course on snowmobile safety. Also, you can rent snowmobiles and talk to the dealer about which snowmobiles are suited for beginners or advanced users.
Dune Buggy
If you live near a beach, or somewhere sandy, dune buggies, or sand rails, can be a lot of fun. Dune buggies are generally open-air vehicles, but they feature a roll cage which many other vehicles do not. One or two passengers can ride in a vehicle, and many destinations allow you to rent a buggy by the hour. Just be aware that riding in a dune buggy can be quite dirty due to the sand being kicked up. Not a big deal, just keep cameras and other equipment that can jam or get clogged in a safe spot. Don’t forget protective eyewear as well
ATV
An all-terrain vehicle, or ATV, is a very popular vehicle throughout the year. They can be used for transport, four-wheeling, or just cruising down your favorite trail. They are easy to operate and are accessible for anybody to operate. Many people enjoy riding them in the summer, but there’s really no reason you can’t enjoy them during the fall or winter months. If you’re riding in the snow, be sure you have the proper tires equipped and dress appropriately.
RV
An RV, or recreational vehicle, can be a great alternative to camping in a tent. Also, these vehicles can transport bicycles, dirt bikes, ATVs, or even an additional four-wheel drive vehicle to take your family to other areas that your RV can’t reach. RVs do have some drawbacks. Large RVs use a lot of gas and can be difficult to maneuver and may not be a suitable choice if you’re on a budget. If you can get approved for an RV loan from Deseret First Credit Union in Utah or wherever you may be located, then RVs are the way to go.
Sea-Doo
If you and your family are into water sports, having a Sea-Doo on hand is great. Sea-Doos differ from a jet-ski in that you can sit on Sea-Doo and they are easier to control. If you have small children, they can share a seat with you. If you’re not familiar with water vehicles, it’s a good idea to go slow through the water and get your maneuvering down before doing anything more adventurous.
Remember when participating in many of the activities listed above to always wear a helmet, appropriate attire, and seat belts where necessary. Always obey all the rules and laws when operating these vehicles, and be sure to operate these vehicles at safe speeds when children are on board or in the vicinity.
