Tsukihoshi Shoes- Set Your Toes Free #Review #MDRadventures

April 30, 2016 by Misty Stephens

When you wear sneakers, do you want your toes cramped and pinched?  No, and when they do get cramped, it is not good for your health.  Tsukihoshi has been concerned for 140 years now about providing comfortable, fun shoes, that allow freedom for the toes to move.  Their children shoes are cute, stylish, and machine washable.

Tsukihoshi was started in 1873 when Unpei and Moto Kurata opened a shop to make “Tabi Shoes.”  They wanted to create the perfect “Tabi Shoes.”

These traditional Japanese sock shoes had split toes allowing your feet to flex freely and maintain tactile contact with the ground as if barefoot, offering ideal conditions for healthy feet.

For 140 years the brand has continued to improve the art of making shoes.  Tsukihoshi has evolved over the years in the areas of technology, techniques, and design.  although much has changed, their original mission to give children fun shoes that give their toes freedom to move has stayed the same.

Tsukihoshi makes shoes for children beginning from babies up to youth size five.  All their shoes are designed to let your child’s toes move as if they were barefoot.  Here you can see their Youth Rainbow sneakers in lavender/coral.   The rainbow colored laces are just for looks.  The velcro is what is used to take these off and on.

My daughter has loved these since she first laid eyes on them.  She doesn’t wear her other sneakers at all even though they still fit and are not worn out.  She says they are very comfortable and easy to run in.  I thought her feet might hurt a little as they got used to new shoes, but they did not hurt at all.  She loves the colors and they match all the pink and purple in her wardrobe.

This is the Tsukihoshi Youth Dash in purple/mint.  These are the next size up so she is not wearing them yet, but she loves the vivid colors.  The details on these shoes are great.  The laces have a purple edge and look really cool against the mint.  These laces are functional.  Tsukihoshi offers both velcro shoes and shoes that need to be tied.

Tsukihoshi’s shoe features include:

  • Being machine washable on cold.  Remove the insole and air dry.
  • Lightweight and comfortable
  • Antibacterial insole to kill odor causing germs-It is infused with Green Tea extract and no chemicals
  • Easy to get on and off
  • Barefoot comfort
  • Pedorthist friendly
  • Arch support
  • Heel Stabilizer
  • Latex free
  • Breathable

These shoes are fantastic for children since they are both comfortable and fun colored.  They are fantastic for parents because we can rest assured they are supporting our kids’ feet well and are breathable.  This, as well as the green tea extract, will help to keep bad shoe odor away. However, if they do begin to smell or get muddy, just pop them into the washer.

Which Tsukihoshi shoe will your child love best?
