5 Mobile Apps to Help You Through Your Little One’s First Year

April 29, 2016 by Pam Maynard

That first year of life is unlike anything else a parent and child experience. For the parent, it’s all about learning how to do the best you can with the resources you have available. The child’s job is to simply look cute while learning as much about life outside of the womb as possible.

As a new parent or future parent yourself, you need all the help you can get to make it through that first year. Thankfully, there is plenty of help to be had by way of mobile apps that can make parenting easier and certainly less stressful. Mobile apps development has certainly come a long way  in recent years. Below is a list of five of the best parenting apps available today.

  1. My Baby Today

My Baby Today is an exciting and very friendly app that picks up from where your parenting classes left off. It is a free app that provides a tremendous amount of information that can help you create a personalised guide to your child. It includes information on sleeping, for example, paired with a tool that will help you track the sleeping habits of your child. You’ll also find information and tools about feeding, growth, progress, and so on.

  1. Baby Bundle

Baby Bundle is another free app that is similar to My Baby Today. The strength of this app is the amount of health information it contains. There’s even a built-in tool to keep track of your baby’s vaccinations. Baby Bundle features an interactive form that parents can use to ask questions and get advice. This app offers an intuitive interface that is very gentle on those tired new-parent eyes.

  1. Cozi Family Organizer

One of the best apps, we’ve seen for new parents is Cozi Family Organizer. This app goes above and beyond parenting advice and information to include an entire organisation platform that helps you keep things running smoothly. With this app, you will be able to keep track of everyone’s appointments, including your scheduled appointments with paediatricians. It has space for you to enter and track daily activities including chores, errands, and even those memories you create along the way. This app is for keeping track of life that was instantly made more hectic when your newborn arrived.

  1. Eat Sleep

It can be very frustrating for new parents to get the hang of their baby’s eating and sleeping rhythms. First of all, not every child is the same. Second, these rhythms change over time. Eat Sleep is a free app that lets parents track important things including eating schedule, sleeping schedule, nappy changes, and more. It is an app that puts eating and sleeping in perspective so that parents have a more realistic idea of how things are going.

  1. WebMD Baby

That first year of childhood can be nerve-racking to parents who get nervous every time Junior runs a slight temperature or gets fussy. There’s no need to immediately run off to the paediatrician when you have WebMD Baby. This free app takes all of the best child-centred content from the popular website and condenses it into the most important information parents need to know about their young children. It offers thousands of articles, videos, and tips from doctors. It even includes a few tools to track your baby’s health and progress.

Billions of people parented long before there were smartphones and apps. But now that the technology exists why not use it to be a better parent yourself? The apps we’ve listed here will help you get through that first year with fewer worries.
