Magformers are not just for building things. They take your child’s imagination to the edge and beyond. They magnetic pieces have limitless possibilities for creating amazing projects. We were very excited to review the Hi-Tech Walking Robot Set. The kit comes with instructions to build 3 different robots- the Hero Robot, the Villain Robot or the Space Robot. My son chose the Villain Robot- he’s a boy, of course he would choose the Villian! The only things we needed (other than some space to work and some creativity) were 3 AAA batteries and a small Philips Head Screwdriver.
It only took my son about 15 minutes to make this fun robot. After that, it took about 10 minutes to test the durability of the pieces as it walked into a pack of dogs in the living room. It survived, even after the smallest dog barked at it and knocked it over. Check out our video below!
My son’s thoughts:
His favorite things about Magformers: the magnets are cool and strong. “I like that I can put it together and not worry about it falling apart, even after the dogs knock it over. I also like the colors and shapes of the pieces. I used to do LEGO sets all the time. They had so many pieces and took such a long time. Magformers are quick and fun.”
The only thing he suggested was that the instruction booklet should be more clear about the instructions. “Compared to LEGO instructions, Magformers left a lot more to your imagination. But maybe that is the point?”
Smart boy! Can’t fool him! He did complain a few times that the instructions just showed you the pieces, not the exact place to put them and in what order. Once he had a picture in his mind, he has his robot up and working in less than 15 minutes!
