Nicholas Sparks books are the ones that you settle in with on those days when you feel like a great cry is exactly what you need. Those days when you’re already on the verge anyway, so, why not? You grab the tissues, your favorite chocolate, a cup of coffee, and go for it. They take you back to your teens or 20s. You feel the beach so strongly that you can almost feel sand between your toes. Then, you fall in love with the characters because they remind you of something, someone, or someplace you’ve been…
These books are the ones that remind you of your past, and give you hope for your future. Choices. We’ve all made them…
“Now, pay attention, cause I’ma ’bout to teach you the secret to life.
You ready?
The whole damn thing is about choices…”
This week I got to have something even better than a good cry cuddled up with a Nicholas Sparks’ book; I got to have a wonderful afternoon with several of my closest friends. We chatted about The Choice novel, teased about the handsome actors in the film, and laughed about the differences that occur when books make it to the big screen. I think for the first time our mommy time book club meeting actually discussed the book!
About The Choice:
The Choice is set in coastal North Carolina in an quiet beach town. Travis Shaw [Benjamin Walker] is a well-liked ladies man who likes to keep things light, easygoing, and fun. He doesn’t do serious, complicated, and difficult, that might cramp his style. Of course, as I’m sure you guessed, a fiery Gabby [Teresa Palmer] will take him on, even if it is unexpected for both of them. The attraction between Gabby and Travis is undeniable, irresistible, and something they can’t walk away from.
But, there’s choices.
Gabby has choices.
Travis has choices.
…. grab your tissues. There’s puppies involved here too!
The Choice is NOW PLAYING in theaters. If you’re a book person, pickup the book before you go see the film. If you’re a movie mom, grab your girlfriends, tissues, chocolate, and a late’ and go see the film this weekend! We couldn’t decide which one was the right way to go, so with a split-decision comes two choices for you… book before movie? or movie?
Life’s all about choices!
