This Valentine’s Day try something fun and new and make your own box of chocolate. No need to go and buy pre-made chocolates when you can have the joy of making chocolates with the kids, and learning about science at the same time. You will share a great experience, and have chocolates to eat and share when you are done.
Thames and Kosmos has over 250 science kits. They are unique and range from single use experiments to kits that contain over 100 experiments. They started making their kits in 2001 for children in the United States, and other English speaking children around the world. Before that generations of children in Europe have been able to develop their love and enthusiasm for science.
My children were super excited when I told them they could make their own chocolate candy for Valentine’s Day. I think they really just wanted to eat all the chocolate, but we did manage to make a cute box of bugs, cars, and chocolate bars for their dad. After that they ate a bunch of chocolate, quality control, I guess.
While we were doing it the instruction book was full of really cool scientific information about phases of matter in chocolate, heat transfer, kinetic energy, and even where chocolate comes from. Those fun tidbits were great to share with the kids as they did their chocolate molding. After they made the chocolate molds, they got to make boxes
After they made the chocolate molds, they made boxes to put their candy in. The kit has molds and boxes good for several seasons, including Christmas, Easter, and Valentine’s Day. My kids really liked the egg mold where you can make two sides of an egg, fill it with candy, then glue it with melted chocolate. Wrap it in some red foil and it is good to go.
This Thames and Kosmos Chocolate Science Kit was good for a large range of ages. I have age 9, 12, 14, and 36 represented here, and we all enjoyed making chocolate candy. I can store the molds for the next season and make chocolate whenever we want to now. I just need to get the chocolate off the baking aisle at the store and can make many more chocolate bugs, cars, Santas, and even chocolate Easter bunny lollipops.
As well as making educational science kits, Thames and Kosmos, make a line of games under the Kosmos name. The game Tumult Royale was fun to play, and the idea was really cool. It incorporated strategy, vivid details on the pieces, and a new and fun basis. I thought it was great and will play it often. It sure beats the same old tired games in the game closet. In this game you are royals and you get to take things from the common people. Then they get mad and the fun begins.
Will you enrich your children with science kits and fun games?
