Fill every room with music. Plug in, connect to your wireless network and play. Easy.
Since my husband is the audio techie and music afficionado of the family, he was very excited when we received this speaker to review, especially since he had just seen this exact speaker for sale in a well-known electronics store the night before.
The outside of the box says that you should be able to “Play any song, in any room” so we put it to the test.
As we unpacked it we could tell right away that this seemed to be a really nice speaker. The speaker is light-weight enough for anyone to easily carry from room to room, yet it is also heavy enough to stay put and not fall over. It seems to be a solid speaker and you can tell by its design that it is not cheaply made. One thing we especially liked was the built-in handle they put in the top that makes it easy to carry with only one hand. Without the handle, it would be a little cumbersome to carry around.
Not only was it well-packaged but it came with very well-written instructions that were easy to understand and follow. For this speaker to work properly, it needs to be connected to your home network, either with an ethernet cable (with is included), or wirelessly (which is how we connected it).
The first step was to attach the power cord and plug it into an electrical outlet. We then downloaded the HEOS app from the app store (which is a free download). Once it was downloaded, we connected an audio cable (which is also included) from the speaker to our iPhone’s earphone jack. This was needed only for the setup process and can be disconnected once the setup is complete.
Once the app was installed, it was very intuitive to begin using. You simply select the source from which you want to play your music. For instance, we signed into Pandora and it immediately came up and began playing. WOW! What a great sound from such a small speaker.
My husband gives the HEOS 5 a big thumbs up, and so do I!
