One of the best parts of cold weather is the cocoa. This time of year, out come the Christmas mugs, full of hot cocoa and marshmallows. To share that warm feeling, my daughter and I made cocoa reindeer to give to our friends and neighbors. Here is how to do it yourself.
Reindeer Cocoa
Gifts Kids Can Make!
Ingredients & Supplies:
- brown pipe cleaners
- icing bags
- small pom poms
- 2 cups cocoa powder
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 5 cups powdered milk
- 2 teaspoons salt
- marshmallows ( I used peppermint)
This recipe makes about 16 reindeer.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cocoa, powdered sugar, powdered milk, and salt. Mix completely. Store in an airtight container until ready to bag them up.
When ready to make your reindeer, take 1/2 cup of cocoa mix and put it into an icing bag. Add about 20 marshmallows, or however many you want. Then cinch the top of the bag with the brown pipe cleaner. Twist it tightly around bag, then bend the pipe cleaner to look like antlers.
Then it is time to put on the face. I drew the eyes on with a permanent marker, but googly eyes would have worked well too. Then my daughter glued on pom pom noses for each reindeer.
These were fun and easy to make. They would make great gifts for teachers, co-workers, and neighbors. If you add a mug it is a thoughtful and nice little cocoa kit. Each reindeer makes one cup of rich chocolate cocoa.
