My boys love to join me in the kitchen, but our kitchen is so small I can only let one help at a time. One way I can keep both boys happy is by bringing out the play kitchen for my youngest while my oldest helps me measure and stir. This means we need a play kitchen that either fits near our tiny kitchen or can easily be moved around.
The Cozy Comfort Kitchen Playset from American Plastic Toys is the perfect play kitchen for small spaces and imaginative kids. It is lightweight and compact, so it can be moved around easily as needed. The kitchen measurements are 28 3/8″ x 11 5/8″ x 34 1/8″.
I love all the features this play kitchen comes with; they really thought of everything. The play kitchen has a small refrigerator with a water dispenser on the door, an oven, a microwave, and a cabinet for storage. It also has a sink, stove, grill, and even a coffee maker!
My boys really like the coffee maker, I suppose because Mom loves to drink coffee. They just slide the cup in the opening underneath, place the little filter basket into the coffee pot opening under the lid, press the sticker buttons, and make me some delicious pretend coffee.
The knobs all spin around, though the knob for the stove is a little tougher to turn. The coffee pot lid flips up and down and all of the doors can open and close.
When you put a pot on the stove, a piece glows blue underneath and makes a boiling water sound. My boys love this. It is a bit touchy, so whenever we bump the kitchen it goes off, so I just make sure we have it away when we need things quiet.
Everything has a place. My detail-oriented, everything-needs-organization self loves this. There are hangers for the cups and serving utensils, slots for the plates, and even a place for a phone. The rest all get sorted into the oven, the cupboard, or the baskets. Sometimes we will leave the silverware in the sink.
The Cozy Comfort Kitchen comes with a ton of accessories which include the following: two coffee cups with attached coffee maker, a colander, two plates, silverware, a muffin tin, three serving utensils, a pot with a lid, two baskets, and even a toaster with two slices of toast. The toaster is a fun, unique touch. The only thing I would have done differently on this accessory is use white or even orange plastic for the toast piece rather than gray. Obviously the kids do not care what color it is, but that’s just what I would prefer. The baskets are really great because they offer more storage organization and one is labeled with a recycling logo, perfect for teaching kids about recycling and different materials like plastic and paper.
Now for the most important topic that comes up with toys like this…how is assembly? Yes, this product does come in several pieces and needs to be assembled by you. No, this product was not difficult to assemble. For the most part, I attached everything myself following the simple instructions included. I did need my husband’s brute force on one part that had some extra plastic overhang, but the rest just snapped right into place, no tools needed. All of the pieces were there and nothing was broken besides a very, very slight crease in one of the stickers. You cannot even see the crease now that it is stuck to the piece unless you are looking for it.
This Cozy Comfort Kitchen has already stood up to much use. My children have been playing with it daily and will often use the play kitchen while I make dinner. It is lightweight, easy to assemble, compact, and has a ton of really great features that continually spark imagination. I definitely recommend this as a gift for the holidays!
