Blue Orange Games #Review #MDRChristmas

November 28, 2015 by Misty Stephens

Disclosure.New.3

We love to play games in our family.  We try to do a game night weekly, but sometimes end up playing more often.  I really like Blue Orange games because they are fast and fun.  The kids learn things as we play like hand eye coordination and strategy.  They are making our game night a ton of fun.

About Blue Orange Games

Blue Orange Games was founded by Julien Mayot and Thierry Denoual in 2000.  The company has since earned a reputation for award winning products with high play value and remarkable quality. All the games are developed, designed, and promoted in house in California.  Each Blue Orange game must meet the criteria of being easy to learn, skill building, and fun for all ages, in order for the games to be enjoyed by the whole family for years to come.

How Blue Orange Games is helping our world…

Blue Orange Games launched a program in 2007 to benefit our environment, and to make their business more sustainable.  For every tree used to create their wooden products and game cards, they plant two trees.  They have planted over 100,000 trees to this day.

mdr 004Gobblett Gobblers

This cartoon-like strategy game is in the style of Tic-Tac-Toe, but it adds a new element which brings some pizzazz.  If you line up three Gobblers you win, but beware, these Gobblers like to gobble each other.  Each game will end with a winner.

The colors are bright and cheerful and the Gobblers are cute.

Your Children will learn:

  • Memory
  • Focus and Attention
  • Problem Solving
  • Visual Perception

The goal with the Thumb’s Up game is to race to scoop the loops onto your thumb, based on the color order displayed on the challenge cards.  It is harder than it sounds, and will require each player to focus on the order of the numbers on the cards.  Then they match the color, scoop the loops, and the first one done holds up their thumb.  You can vary the play to make it match the ages playing.

Your children will learn:

  • Processing Speed
  • Focus and Attention
  • Visual Perception
Ring It

This is a game where chaotic clapping and bell ringing are followed by laughter.  Each player flips a card one by one around the circle until a match by either color or number is found.   Then be the first to clap and then ring the bell, but be careful if you make a mistake you will have to face a penalty.

Your children will learn:

  • Focus and Attention
  • Visual Perception
  • Processing Speed

gingerbread 111Super Genius

There are multiple Super Genius games to chose from and each combines learning with fun.  There is reading, addition, multiplication, even first words to chose from.  They were developed hand and hand with learning professionals.  Great tools to teach children with while having fun, and can be used at home or even in a school setting.

Your children learn:

  • Problem Solving
  • Visual Perception
  • Speech and Language
  • Processing Speed
  • Focus and Attention

Mom’s Thoughts

I really love when learning and skills are combined into a fun way of learning– like games.  It is almost learning in disguise.

My children and I had a blast playing these different games.

The kids go back again and again to Gobblet Gobblers.  They seem to like that one a lot.

The ring it game was a ton of fun and it ended up with lots of giggling and a few arguments of who clapped and didn’t clap.  I can see that these games easily improve hand eye coordination.  They really challenge the kids to be alert and ready.

The Thumb’ s Up game looked simple to them and they thought it would be silly.  Trying to scoop rings up onto your thumb in the right number and color order is actually quite a challenge.  There are so many game varieties to chose from there is something for every child.  All ages and all interests.

I am impressed with the company’s concern for the environment, as well.  Planting two trees to make up for each one they use is great.  They are trying really hard to not strain our environment, and to leave something for the next generation.  Blue Orange Games come in with flying colors in product quality, and the good they are doing behind the scenes.

Which game would your family like under the Christmas tree?
