Love Cereal Treats, but want to change it up? I saw Oreo post a neat treat option on their Instagram the other day that inspired me to try mixing it up a little. How do they look? Delicious?
You can make them too!
The base to this recipe is the same as any other Cereal Treats, except I add more butter and more marshmallows.
Before you start heating the butter and marshmallows, you need to crush the cookies. I like to use the chocolate sandwich cookies, but really, you can use any kind that you want: chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, peanut butter (with peanut butter baking chips). I have also made these with candy — just make sure they are chopped or crushed so that you can mix it well.
I put whatever I’m crushing in a plastic bag with a zipper. That way when I crush it, the small pieces don’t fly everywhere. You can use anything that you want to smash it: a frying pan, a hammer, or a meat mallet.
Crush two of the three columns of the cookies. The last column needs to be cut with a sharp knife, into quarters.
Heat the butter and marshmallows until the marshmallows are smooth. Remove the mixture from the heat and add the cereal and crushed cookies. Mix very well.
Spread the mixture out on a non-stick pan (or you can spray the pan with non-stick spray). While that is setting, take the white chocolate bark and put it in a microwave bowl. Microwave the bark for one minute to a minute and a half. Stir well to make it smooth.
Pour the bark over the top of the mixture and add the chopped cookies so that they stick to the white chocolate bark.
Put in the fridge to set for an hour. Cut into squares and grab some milk!
These will make a great snack, dessert, or treats for any get together. By adding the cookies (or candies) it will jazz up any cereal snacks.
Cookie Krispy Treats #Recipe
Ingredients:
- 4 tbs butter
- 1 1/2 bag mini marshmallows
- 1 pk chocolate sandwich cookies
- 6 cups rice cereal
- 1/2 pack white chocolate candy bark
Crush two of the three columns of the cookies inside a plastic bag. Set aside. Cut the third column into quarters with a sharp knife, set aside.
Heat the butter and marshmallows in a large pot until marshmallows are melted and incorporated with butter. Remove the mixture from the heat. Add cereal and crushed cookies. Mix well. Spread mixture onto a non-stick pan or greased/wax paper lined pan.
Melt white chocolate bark according to package directions.
Swirl white chocolate on top of the cereal mixture, top with chopped cookies (cookies must touch bark to “stick”)
Allow to set in cool place (or fridge) for an hour.
Cut into squares. Serve.
